Reaction to 2023 Game Awards

2023 will go down as possibly one of the most epic years in gaming history. It was a constant stream of great games being released and this years awards show celebrated this wonderful year in gaming but also provided a sneak peek to what's to come in 2024. We react to it in this episode.

The podcast you know went out to the our church and helped them with the load up some moving trucks to a vacation bible camp. Basically right? or ah, the camp for the kids right? a thousand kids going to. Ah, mountain resort on our resort but a mountain retreat and you know learning about Jesus and god for a week and and seeing a bunch of them get saved which was great and my wife you know she went with them for a week and we helped them blow it up but you know. Really said spoke to us that you know we wanted to be more involved in the community we wanted to offer our serve our ourselves and our podcast up to serve the community more and ah you I was talking to you in the church the other day and you. You mentioned your mission trip that you have coming up to Brazil and I thought maybe you know the podcast good to game radio podcast you know has something to offer to you so we invited you on the show and ah so you can kind of tell us what you're what it is. You're going to be doing.

Good deal. Thank you? Yeah, my wife and my wife and I and my son attend life point church I guess over the last few years you know we've become deacons. We've you know, led classes and bible studies and things like that and. You know and as a christian you you just you learn to trust god and to follow and um and just kind of see where he can use you whether it's in the community or whether it's in the church or wherever in the workplace you know and so one of the things they came up and they asked me if I would. Being interested in going on a mission trip and I said sure you know and I've done things in the past where we've done. You know we've built homes or things like that locally here in the United States or in another state or something I've never been associated with anything that involves going to another country such as Brazil. Um, and and just like any relationship you have you've got like I said you've got to establish that trust and so that trust that we have with with our father is is is continually. We're continually learning that and and so I did it then they came back and said. You know we're we're going to need some funds for you to go to this and you know and I'm thinking wow you know that part of it I didn't think of and so then they tell me about there's a fundraising part that ah that I need to do and and so you know didn't think much of it. You know times time's been counted down and.

And so as as we're getting ready for this mission trip. We have a meeting and and so we start talking about well I've I found out a lot about the mission trip that I was going on. Um and kind of give her by some feedback. Ah, it's called Amo Ministries there's a brazilian name for this but it stands for feed my sheetep Brazil it was established by a couple ah Pete and Jodie Brennan from Miami Florida back in 1999 they currently have 3 churches there in in Brazil. And if I try to pronounce it I would probably just really chop it up. Pretty bad. It looks like Sao Paulo dorino Brazil is where it's at but they they have several ministries that are there. Um, you know they they have a food ministry. They have a water filter ministry a child sponsorship ministry. Um. And so in this ministry they have missionaries that actually live there in in this area where these ministries these missionaries live is ah they need other missionaries to come in and help build it. They need resources to to establish equipment and. Building supplies and so forth like that and so a lot of manpower which is what I will be doing and 11 others from our church will be going. We provide that manpower so these missionaries can stay concentrated on doing god's work of helping these children in the community.

With whatever their ministry. They've been called to. They're um, at this at this place. We're going to. Um, they do several. They do several things there. There's there's a ah mission a ministry they have there called Embrace Child embrace a child's ah sponsorship water filter hunger relief. So there's several of these ministries that are well establishished that a lot of them use and so um, ah the skill set that we're going in. we're doing some. electrical I know that I'm doing some welding some plumbing ah we're doing some we're setting tile lane tile and things like that and there's a lot of woodwork that has to be done there as well. It's a 10 day trip and so we're asked to to raise some funds for that. Ah in in like I had said previously I think the biggest thing that. Ah, course that I'm um, actually it's it's come to surface for me as to a lot of things that when we go through life is to learn to trust god whether it's a good thing or a bad thing in life. Um, and so sometimes it's hard for us as human beings to try to. Separate the spiritual from what we can actually touch with our hands and trust in our father is one of those things that we we've got to go on faith with and this accepting um funds from someone else for me to go and do the work.

It's It's very humbling. It's it's um, it's ah it's a new feeling for me. It's a new thing that I feel that God is maturing me in my relationship with him to to learn ah to accept because sometimes you know we want to. We want to control things we want to be in be in charge Of. Of what goes on in our lives and this is one of those things where we are relying on someone else as as yourselves and your listeners for support to allow us to go on these trips to help somebody else who in the same chance. Is relying on us members from our church or other missionaries to come there and help them so that they can do something so it's just continually pay it forward all the way all the way Through. So I do appreciate the chance of coming on here I do appreciate the the opportunity To. Speak to everyone about this and and you know the other thing too as well is if you know if if people can't give pray pray that that God's will will be done pray that we understand him a little bit more each day. And that he softens our hearts and he keeps us with a clear mind so that our ears can hear and that our eyes can see what what he wants us to do So. There's There's more ways to give than something physically. It's you can also give your time and and speaking with God and let him know where your heart is as well.
