Our Reaction to Alien Romulus!
In this episode, Jaime and Tony talk about what we thought about the Alien Romulus movie. Did we like it or hate? Also, we talk about the Fall Guy movie and the Anniversary of the Sega Dreamcast. Finally, we reveal the winner of the Video Game Draft for 2024.
Hi guys, welcome back to Good to Game Radio. I'm your host Tony speaking. I'm here tonight with Jaime and Vance is with his kids playing flag football tonight so he wasn't able to join us.
00:16.42
tanomsak
But our topics tonight, Alien Romulus. We finally get to talk about Alien Romulus after three weeks of pushing you guys to go see it.
00:23.05
Jaime G
i know
00:26.69
tanomsak
And then we're going to get into some video game topics and then Uh, at the beginning of the year, we had the draft, uh, where we each drafted three players and, uh, not three players, but three, we each drafted three games to see who would have the highest cumulative score by September 1st.
00:47.49
tanomsak
And now that is, they, they, that now that date has passed.
00:48.83
Jaime G
I know.
00:52.21
tanomsak
So we get to find out who was the greatest prognosticator of video games.
00:53.27
Jaime G
Yep.
01:00.27
tanomsak
ah So, Jaime, what's going on?
01:03.44
Jaime G
Not much, man. Hey, in my defense, in my defense, I saw Alien Rammelis a couple of weeks ago, but you were busy the last time that we were maybe going to tentatively podcast.
01:14.43
tanomsak
Right. It's a busy time of year. You know, we got a lot of important dates happening and we're kind of in and out, you know, had my 30th anniversary. And so that was what prevented us from getting together last week.
01:30.71
tanomsak
and talking alien Romulus because we you had seen it the weekend before I think but yeah so hopefully now that we're in the fall and seemingly things are starting to pick up in both video games and movies and everything is just starting to pick up summertime everybody just the world just kind of slows down and enjoys the summer but now I
01:36.24
Jaime G
Uh huh.
01:53.68
tanomsak
We get back in the fall. Things are picking up. Sports seasons are back in in play. There's all kinds of stuff going on. So we'll have a lot more exciting, interesting topics that we're we can get into a more weekly basis.
02:08.90
tanomsak
But I won't be here next.
02:09.15
Jaime G
Hey, Tony.
02:09.94
tanomsak
ah Well, actually, I will be here next Monday. I have the mission trip to Clarkston coming up this weekend. So yep.
02:16.78
Jaime G
Oh, cool. Cool. Hey, I'm kind of upset that the summer blockbusters are behind us. Because there I don't think there were many.
02:27.01
tanomsak
Yeah, I was gonna say, were there any summer blockbuster you had? Well, you had the Deadpool Wolverine movie. That was probably the big, the big marquee movie that came out over the summer. So but I just don't remember a whole lot of other ones.
02:43.39
tanomsak
um
02:43.72
Jaime G
Well, I mean, there was like some good movies that came out, yeah but there was like nothing that just completely, you know, exploded. You know what I'm saying?
02:58.79
tanomsak
Right. And I think, I think that's the result of the writers and actors strikes that happened.
02:59.37
Jaime G
um
03:04.46
tanomsak
What was it last year or the year before?
03:07.30
Jaime G
ah Yeah, it was, it might've even been this year.
03:09.01
tanomsak
Cause we had, ah we had all those, yeah, we had those strikes going on and that kind of, uh, they ended up probably pushing back a lot of projects and we just got a lot of like independent type of films and stuff.
03:10.17
Jaime G
I can't even remember now.
03:20.59
tanomsak
So yeah, the movie, the movies haven't been that great this year though. Um, I mean, you just alien ramas, in my opinion, is you know the best movie so far I've seen this year. Relying a little bit of nostalgia, obviously, for that, for for me. But what'd you think? Do you have the opportunity to go see it?
03:42.87
Jaime G
Absolutely. But, but I think it was a, it's a movie that I am like so surprised about it because I had a blast. I went by myself and there was a couple of scenes that I jumped, but did you know that this movie was going to be a straight to streaming originally?
04:08.32
tanomsak
I had heard some rumors about that. I'm glad they didn't. I'm not, I think every movie should at least, well, not every movie, but most movies, especially big movies should have the opportunity to come forth on the big screen because, you know, I'm a big screen fan, so.
04:22.79
Jaime G
so So I think the reason why this movie like they like throughout production changed it is because The last predator movie. I mean obviously aliens and predators there. You're like always comparing them Did so well and it was like a good movie on Hulu that I guess like some producer they must have been like, you know having a party at one evening. They're like, yeah, let's let's release this in the movie theaters. Let's go for it. And I'm so glad they did. that This is the type of movie you want to see in the movie theater.
05:01.00
Jaime G
um
05:01.23
tanomsak
Yeah, I mean, there's so much love and just attention to detail, the practical effects, you know.
05:13.42
Jaime G
Oh, oh, oh.
05:13.45
tanomsak
And I don't think the movie costs that much to make really in comparison to most Hollywood blockbuster type movies.
05:20.10
Jaime G
Okay. You want to know how much attention to detail this movie actually, you know, was able to be successful at? In the video game, Alien alien Isolation, have you ever played it?
05:35.43
tanomsak
Parts of it, yeah.
05:36.94
Jaime G
Parts of it. Okay. Do you remember the save point?
05:41.90
tanomsak
I don't remember. It's been like three years since I played it, so.
05:45.13
Jaime G
It was like this little phone thingy. Okay. So in the movie, if you look at this, there, there, there's four instances where that, that phone booth or like phone machine shows up.
06:00.04
tanomsak
Uh-huh.
06:00.93
Jaime G
And it's usually always before something big is going to happen.
06:04.55
tanomsak
Oh, now I say I've got to go back and watch the movie.
06:07.10
Jaime G
So it's, it's, it's like the save point.
06:12.51
Jaime G
It, it,
06:12.65
tanomsak
That's funny that they took that if that's true, they that they took that from the video game and put that in the movie.
06:18.27
Jaime G
They did. ah
06:19.12
tanomsak
But there was there was a scene. Referencing video games in the movie.
06:25.80
Jaime G
Yeah. Yeah.
06:26.94
tanomsak
Yeah, the yeah, and I love.
06:27.25
Jaime G
Andy was playing video games.
06:31.67
tanomsak
I love that that was there. I mean, it's just, it's just just one of those subtle little things that kind of makes the world feel lived in, right? It's just like, in a lot of movies, you just see kind of like, everything just fades into the background.
06:47.92
tanomsak
You don't see people like really doing anything like normal people would be doing. But like, here they are. And there's a guy playing video games, while they're talking, you know, like,
06:59.55
Jaime G
They were playing like some my alien like Tari video game.
07:02.33
tanomsak
Yeah, it was ah like, it it was so like funny because you're talking like, um, how many, this is like 2100 or something in, you know, 22nd century in the video game, the guy's playing.
07:15.22
Jaime G
Yeah.
07:19.51
tanomsak
It looks like it's from the 1980s.
07:22.30
Jaime G
but But you know, I think that there's an explanation for it. I think this is like something that might have not been like a major console. Like this is like somebody making up like their own makeshift, I guess, mini computer and we're just playing with it because look at where they lived.
07:40.95
tanomsak
Not yet. They were living on a mining colony where they're basically slaves to the corporation. And like, you know, Sony's not selling the next PS 20 up there, you know, it's they got, they got, you know, what they, what they can put together. And they probably don't really have an idea of what real video games are you know they I don't know in this time, maybe there's holographic games you know that the wealthy can play or whatever but for these guys to get out, they have to manually.
08:10.81
Jaime G
Yeah. Yeah.
08:12.95
tanomsak
It's like what I, some of the very first games I ever played when I was a kid I had to, I had to type code out, you know, I'm a Commodore computer you know like how I got a book from the library.
08:24.52
tanomsak
with 12 games that you can code yourself, you know, and it's like, oh, and basic. And it's like, oh, you know, 13 pages of code. And that's how I played my first game.
08:32.97
Jaime G
and Hello world.
08:34.58
tanomsak
So that that was cool, though, because it's like to sci fi sci fi is so sci fi is right.
08:35.98
Jaime G
Yeah. So, so, okay. So we haven't got it.
08:43.74
tanomsak
It's like, but like they kind of stayed rooted in the analog version of sci fi.
08:52.84
Jaime G
Uh huh.
08:52.87
tanomsak
which, you know, you see in Star Wars, right? You know, you saw in the original Alien movie, like what why what's with all the lights with the switches, right? There's like a thousand lights with switches with no way of telling what they do because there's no like label on them.
09:07.40
tanomsak
It's just a bunch of lights.
09:07.64
Jaime G
Yeah.
09:10.93
tanomsak
that That feel comes through in the movie, just great, you know, the first 20 minutes of movie where you're just seeing them, you know, living their life on this, on this world.
09:23.74
tanomsak
And you see the big nuclear reactor, the Wayne Utah, way, Waylon, the new Tani reactor from ah like aliens, the second movie where the space, space Marines go.
09:29.34
Jaime G
Wait, Lynn Yutani? hu
09:36.74
tanomsak
And you see the reactor there, the exact same reactor is sitting there, you know, just it ties in really well with the world.
09:37.99
Jaime G
Where they're trying to like colonize. Right, right, right. I mean, totally, this movie pays so much recognition.
09:50.47
Jaime G
to all the movies after the original Aliens and even the movies prior in the timeline with Prometheus. and i mean don't i do I really didn't care much for those two movies that Ridley Scott directed after being away for like a lifetime.
10:03.49
tanomsak
Right.
10:06.29
Jaime G
um But their presence is felt in these and this movie ah when they show up like the black goo
10:12.64
tanomsak
Yep.
10:16.29
tanomsak
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
10:16.50
Jaime G
um
10:16.77
tanomsak
the they they they have reference They reference they reference you know the even those movies. they um I also like i could wasn't a big fan of that kind of like underlying story with you know that was there with that with that substance.
10:32.88
Jaime G
Yeah.
10:32.90
tanomsak
I was just in, I was in for the horror portion, um seeing like, you know, the the little face huggers chasing them all around the the ah space station and the scene near the end where she's in the ah zero G gravity and she's trying to navigate around the, you know, ah the substances.
10:33.77
Jaime G
Yeah.
10:41.45
Jaime G
Uh
10:53.97
Jaime G
huh.
10:56.36
Jaime G
Well, by the way, major major spoiler territory here.
11:00.69
tanomsak
Yeah.
11:01.71
Jaime G
I mean, so far, we've been saying generic stuff.
11:04.08
tanomsak
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, I don't want to give it away, but I'm like, yeah, that scene, you know, it's the, I'm talking about like, yeah, that was good.
11:10.14
Jaime G
Oh, yeah.
11:12.67
tanomsak
That was great.
11:13.96
Jaime G
Now, here's something that i I absolutely have to recognize. It's really tricky when you're trying to make a movie that's a prequel. uh because there's always like a lot of like well you guys should have done this or you didn't consider it this movie really really feels like a legit sequel to the original alien movie um i mean honestly you you can see this one right after that one and it fits just perfectly it doesn't it doesn't distort the narrative of anything that that that happens in the timeline later with like aliens
11:38.91
tanomsak
yeah
11:47.77
tanomsak
Right. Well, it.
11:54.13
tanomsak
Right, yeah, because in the timeline where this was happening, it's it's before aliens.
11:54.53
Jaime G
um
11:59.45
Jaime G
Uh-huh Now did you did you get I mean before going and watching this movie I tried to like absolutely Not see anything about this, but I just couldn't avoid seeing Headlines on different, you know media outlets about like hey that big surprise cameo.
12:01.18
tanomsak
Yeah, so. ah
12:22.89
Jaime G
I Did you get it when you saw the movie?
12:23.97
tanomsak
I did not know. I did not know. That was when I saw it in the movie. That was the first of my knowledge. I tried to avoid spoilers for the movie. Truthfully, when I saw that they were doing this movie, I was like, I'm like, I'm like, the last two or three haven't been that great.
12:38.89
Jaime G
Sigourney Weaver.
12:46.07
tanomsak
Am I really excited for this? I'm like, I don't, my confidence level was low.
12:51.30
Jaime G
I told you, when we were like talking about this movie way, way, way back in, I guess earlier earlier this year, I said, hey, this movie is going to be good because of the director.
12:51.66
tanomsak
um
13:02.54
tanomsak
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It was, and it's good. do You, you, you caught it. It's, it is good. So, um,
13:09.45
Jaime G
Did you have any jump jump scares? Amongst friends.
13:16.81
tanomsak
I don't remember having, and it's been a few weeks now since I've seen it. Maybe one, I know there was one where most of the audience in my theater jumped at it. Um,
13:28.74
tanomsak
And I like, I might've like flinched, but I didn't really like get scared with it. You know what I'm saying? like
13:35.09
Jaime G
i I absolutely had one. and and And it's like so ironic that you're seeing, you're you're like, there's this buildup, right?
13:46.16
Jaime G
Like the original Alien movie, they open up the shaft, you know, everyone everything goes out like the air vent. And and you're like, something's gonna happen.
13:55.05
tanomsak
Like
13:55.43
Jaime G
Something's gonna happen. But when it did, I honestly like did one of like these like popcorn moments.
14:02.49
tanomsak
Yeah. Yeah. I mean.
14:07.27
tanomsak
Yeah, such a great job casting. We talked last last time. I think we podcast. We talked about the the Borderlands movie and how they got the casting wrong. And the casting in this movie is spot on.
14:17.44
Jaime G
Yeah.
14:22.97
tanomsak
Perfect.
14:24.12
Jaime G
But it's, but it's so different, right? Borderlands went like with A-listers or semi A-listers.
14:28.39
tanomsak
Mm hmm.
14:30.58
Jaime G
This movie went with like come mostly unknowns and it works so much better.
14:35.15
tanomsak
mostly unknowns, yeah. ah Yeah, well, the main actress, the the new Sigourney Weaver type of actress, I really liked her.
14:47.39
tanomsak
cheek She killed this role, right? It's just...
14:50.83
Jaime G
Dude, every character in this movie from from Rain to Andy, the ah kind of like, dude, it's like you without with it without him, this movie would have just failed.
14:58.26
tanomsak
Love Andy. Oh, I loved Andy. That actor,
15:06.53
tanomsak
Right. Without, yeah, without Andy. ah I was like, I love, I really love the dad jokes.
15:17.72
tanomsak
ah
15:19.92
Jaime G
I've been using them.
15:21.34
tanomsak
Right. Really love the dad jokes.
15:23.87
Jaime G
i I went to Urban Hair with my son and and another family two weekends ago and i was I pulled out a couple of them and they got laughs, man.
15:25.94
tanomsak
And
15:35.28
Jaime G
They really did.
15:36.54
tanomsak
Yeah. And, um, when his storyline played out and the dad jokes kind of went away, um, man, I was like, what are they going to do?
15:51.41
tanomsak
Don't, don't do it. You know, it's like, don't, I don't want to spoil what ends up happening, but I mean, you pit your, yeah.
15:56.22
Jaime G
Hey, one one thing, though, one thing that that that was like brilliant. Andy has like these like short one liners throughout the movie. And let's say ah normal Andy and upgraded Andy. But upgraded Andy has like some one liners that you can kind of completely miss what he's trying to say if you're not paying attention.
16:23.76
tanomsak
yeah
16:24.18
Jaime G
Case in point, case in point. And this is given out in the trailers, OK? So I'm not really putting out a spoiler or anything. In the trailers, you can see that there's like a face hugger that just, like, like this door shuts down.
16:37.02
Jaime G
like And the moment that it shuts down, one face hugger kind of makes it across and you know gets on somebody.
16:44.27
tanomsak
Yeah. Yeah.
16:45.82
Jaime G
Notice the scene. Andy was the one who was actually closing the scene, that the the door, of the valve.
16:51.51
tanomsak
Right. Yeah.
16:52.99
Jaime G
later in the movie you know similar scenario happens and he's like about to leave somebody behind and he closes it and the guy just like manages barely like to make it across by sliding like in this like little corner notice that he says this time i calculated it right so so he's like every single time he's like
17:01.19
tanomsak
Hmm.
17:08.07
tanomsak
da Yeah.
17:20.80
Jaime G
learning patterns and whatever and like making decisions that you're like, dude, what is he doing? But they're like all carefully calculated.
17:28.98
tanomsak
Yeah, but yeah, I was like, when they, when they started kind of pitting characters to get against each other, you know, it's like, man, this is not going, this is not going well, but I'm excited, super excited, and I won't reveal, you know, what ends up happening in this movie, obviously, but like, I'm excited for the sequel to this one.
17:30.79
Jaime G
Oh.
17:37.05
Jaime G
Mm hmm.
17:58.29
tanomsak
Because it's got to.
17:58.84
Jaime G
Is it going to get a sequel? has Is it announced?
18:01.38
tanomsak
It's got to.
18:02.13
Jaime G
I mean, this franchise was all but dead, man, honestly. Again, this movie was conceived to be...
18:06.83
tanomsak
Because it didn't have any characters that people could could cling onto.
18:10.66
Jaime G
Yeah. Yeah. ah this this this This one was supposed to be a streaming movie because that's how much they thought it was going to do.
18:21.80
tanomsak
Yeah, i and there's already tension built into the story because they already talked about it.
18:22.46
Jaime G
um
18:26.70
tanomsak
The whole reason they were going to this you know space station was because they wanted to to move on with their lives right into in in a different different planet, basically.
18:38.49
tanomsak
And there was restrictions on this other planet.
18:41.80
Jaime G
Which by the way, all the backstories to every single character and their motivation and why they behave certain with is totally believable.
18:49.99
tanomsak
Right. so that if there's a sequel, we already know the tension, right? Like, you know, if there were survivors and they get to where they want to go, there's, there's already tension kind of that's going to play out. So it's like, uh, I'm, I'm looking forward to that next movie. I hope they've already started on the scripts and whatever, but.
19:18.61
Jaime G
no Okay, but if they are making another movie I would like honestly to have the same the same director come back again, if you get Ridley Scott back into this and he goes back into like this whole Engineer creators of human life and the alien is the like the evolution of whatever Get away from that.
19:26.75
tanomsak
Oh, yeah.
19:29.24
tanomsak
no no
19:39.21
Jaime G
This is supposed to be a jump-scare movie and not a meaning of life drama
19:45.63
tanomsak
Right. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I don't need to know, I don't want any creator stories, right? No, we don't need that.
19:53.57
Jaime G
Right.
19:54.56
tanomsak
We need par and action.
19:57.04
Jaime G
Exactly. So just so you know, this movie has rekt rekt up to to date $315 million.
20:07.09
Jaime G
dollars This movie cannot have been such a big budget movie. I mean, not that it was low budget.
20:13.15
tanomsak
Was it $80 million, dollars I think total.
20:13.77
Jaime G
I'm just saying. Yeah, it's like this is one of those where it was like low budget high gains.
20:20.53
tanomsak
Right.
20:21.08
Jaime G
but it's it's sitting at 315 and it hasn't been out for a month. Just just think about that.
20:27.94
tanomsak
That was that domestic or total worldwide.
20:31.40
Jaime G
Worldwide, China alone is ah is almost at the $100 million dollar mark. it's It's definitely, I mean, it's got all the makings to get a sequel.
20:44.85
tanomsak
Yeah.
20:46.60
Jaime G
I mean, I've seen sequels with like much less gross than this.
20:53.42
tanomsak
Oh yeah. Yeah, it's over 300 million.
20:56.41
Jaime G
Yep.
20:57.50
tanomsak
I was trying to figure out how much it cost to make it.
21:02.87
Jaime G
I'm going to say something, including marketing, probably like 120.
21:12.35
Jaime G
Oh.
21:18.51
Jaime G
Apparently it says that, um, 220 million? What?
21:27.33
tanomsak
No, no, it's just right here.
21:27.87
Jaime G
Nah.
21:28.89
tanomsak
Ali Robbins had a budget of 80 million dollars. I'm sure that budget includes marketing.
21:31.79
Jaime G
Okay.
21:34.28
Jaime G
It's gotta to be.
21:34.33
tanomsak
What'd you think?
21:35.61
Jaime G
Yeah.
21:38.52
tanomsak
Yeah, so that's a nice profit. Some of these big blockbusters don't make their money back, so. but
21:45.19
Jaime G
ah Okay, so so here's a ah good ah good statistic. If the budget was 80 million, right now it's almost made four times the production budget.
21:58.74
Jaime G
that's that's That's awesome. Anyway, i love I would totally love to see a follow-up to this.
22:02.86
tanomsak
yeah that's ah
22:07.59
Jaime G
it's Again, I can't say enough good things about this one, okay? it's Obviously, if you anybody who's listening to me and Tony talk about this, we're trying to be very specific about not giving away too much of this film because it is worthwhile seeing it, seeing it play out.
22:21.61
tanomsak
Yeah. Yeah.
22:27.13
Jaime G
All the characters are magical in ah in a and a way that they're believable, they're real, you can kind of feel their motivation, or you can kind of feel they're angst in certain scenes.
22:40.23
Jaime G
And I am just always upset that the humans make so some dumb choices.
22:50.10
Jaime G
The robots, man.
22:50.50
tanomsak
Yeah, yeah.
22:54.31
tanomsak
Yeah.
22:54.68
Jaime G
Yeah, ah let's leave it at that.
22:54.74
tanomsak
Well, you know, yeah, I don't want to get any spoilers. So I don't want to spoil it. It's like when it's worth a movie worth, you know, go and see.
23:06.16
Jaime G
Actually, here's it it's the first movie we haven't gotten into spoilers.
23:06.25
tanomsak
I don't want to give the spoilers. All the other stuff that's been bad. I don't care.
23:14.09
Jaime G
because we want people to go out and see it.
23:14.29
tanomsak
That's how good it is.
23:16.24
Jaime G
Yeah.
23:16.34
tanomsak
Yeah. We want you to go see it.
23:19.04
Jaime G
Yes.
23:19.14
tanomsak
All right.
23:19.97
Jaime G
Right.
23:20.06
tanomsak
So that's for wrapping up the talk on Alien Aromas.
23:20.54
Jaime G
Okay.
23:23.49
tanomsak
Anything else? ah You said you recently you saw the fall guy.
23:28.29
Jaime G
The fall guy, Tony, I had not seen this movie. I traveled ah for work and I started watching it on the airplane. I had to come back home and I bought it on digital because it's that good. I had to finish it.
23:44.54
tanomsak
One just got Emily Blunt in it, who's my favorite actress. I love everything that she does. So um that's...
23:53.38
Jaime G
My wife has been a fan of her work ever since she was in The Devil Wears Prada.
23:57.24
tanomsak
Mm-hmm, yep.
24:00.88
Jaime G
But oddly enough, it's got Ryan Gosling. And you know, this, Ryan Gosling does like a lot of kind of serious, let's go get an Oscar kind of movies.
24:09.38
tanomsak
Yeah, like Barbie.
24:16.39
Jaime G
But but this you know honestly, the fall guy is such a hidden gem is what I was telling you earlier because it didn't get a lot of buzz. It got a lot of like, hey, go check it out. It's it's funny. There's like some scenes that are just like laugh out loud.
24:33.84
tanomsak
Yeah. Plus, I think a lot of modern um audiences may not make the connection with the 1980s TV show, The Fall Guy, which is what this is based off of, like the truck that he was driving around in.
24:52.79
tanomsak
um
24:52.92
Jaime G
Yeah.
24:53.41
tanomsak
was, you know, the modern version of the truck from the original show show. But yeah, it's it's got that quirky humor to it and everything, too. It's so it's so funny. And just the idea that he's a stuntman.
25:08.67
tanomsak
You know, in a movie. And all these stunts play out outside of work, working as a stuntman, but yeah harka it's it's it's just like ironic and there's a parody on ah everything.
25:17.88
Jaime G
I know, right? It's like, and no So so I was joking around with my wife when we were watching it and you know Aaron Taylor Johnson is in it and He's he's the next he's the next James Bond.
25:33.88
Jaime G
I don't know if you knew that Oh, huh Well, they gotta reboot the series with like a new actor look like like Sean Connery isn't James Bond still you know that right and
25:35.33
tanomsak
um No, I didn't know there I didn't know there was another James Bond after the last one was at Skyfall Right,
25:50.80
tanomsak
but there's a new double-oh-seven established in that last movie How they can work around that?
26:00.71
Jaime G
a They're just going to retcon everything. And anyway, Aaron Taylor Johnson is a new 007, new James Bond. And I was telling my wife, like, hey, look, that's the new James Bond one. And she was like, this dude, the stuntman is so much believable because she's like, this guy has to be doing all these things all day long.
26:28.41
tanomsak
Right.
26:29.27
Jaime G
So when stuff goes down, she's like, yeah, I can believe that this guy is like jumping atop vehicles and like having fight scenes in the back of like unbelievable scenarios.
26:39.73
tanomsak
Yeah, but he wouldn't make that jump initially from the from the apartment down to where the boat was.
26:40.56
Jaime G
but
26:46.09
tanomsak
Remember, he's like, Oh, do I do I? And then they started shooting at him, then he did it.
26:50.67
Jaime G
Yeah.
26:52.63
tanomsak
But yeah, yeah, he's he's gosling.
26:52.97
Jaime G
yeah
26:58.85
tanomsak
It's funny, like he's funny. And sometimes I'm like, he's so bulked up. Like he wasn't that bulky and Barbie and, but he's, he he hasn't always been that way.
27:10.10
Jaime G
and and yeah
27:13.61
tanomsak
He's, he's slowly kind of like, I don't know how these some of these actors do it, like able to change their body, like the way they do. Um, but.
27:23.50
Jaime G
I've changed my body, but in the opposite direction.
27:24.72
tanomsak
Yeah, but he seems like in short term, like did where did this come from? This guy just bulked up into this, you know, uh, you know, like he's a WrestleMania star or something like that, you know, but yeah, it's just funny watching, watching, watching his character in that movie.
27:42.79
Jaime G
And dude, there's like so many recurring bits. Like every time he grabs coffee or wants to get a coffee, like something happens.
27:53.63
Jaime G
If I if I seem like if I ever saw him around a ah coffee mug, I was like, Oh, something's about to go down.
27:53.93
tanomsak
Yeah.
28:02.05
Jaime G
The man can't get a cup of coffee.
28:04.59
tanomsak
Nope. But yeah, another, another good movie to to to check out. I think they came out earlier in the year.
28:10.91
Jaime G
It did. it was this The fall guy was probably what was being considered the beginning of the summer blood busters. um
28:19.86
tanomsak
Yeah.
28:21.23
Jaime G
and And again, it flew under the radar. It kind of went to DVD really quickly, if you'd really think about it, which is not a good sign.
28:28.97
tanomsak
Yeah. Oh, most of them do nowadays.
28:31.53
Jaime G
a
28:32.40
tanomsak
I mean, I say movies on streaming where you can buy or rent like the week after they were out in the theater.
28:33.09
Jaime G
but
28:41.76
Jaime G
And you know, hey, we were talking about like box office results, right?
28:46.62
tanomsak
Yeah.
28:46.85
Jaime G
um So you would think by everything that we've heard that Deadpool and Wolverine right now is, you know, number one, it's actually sitting at 1.2 billion dollars.
29:00.19
Jaime G
Well, my friend, Inside Out 2 is sitting at 1.6 billion.
29:08.10
tanomsak
Crazy.
29:08.15
Jaime G
I told you the last time that we recorded that inside out to was like one that you never heard how well it was doing, but it was just crushing it everywhere.
29:17.72
tanomsak
Now, that's not just is that a Disney movie?
29:20.80
Jaime G
It's a Pixar.
29:23.43
tanomsak
OK, yeah, I mean, it doesn't get any publicity like they don't talk about it making that kind of money.
29:24.79
Jaime G
So technically, yes.
29:31.52
Jaime G
Right, that's so it is like really unknown how much it how well it's doing I mean Deadpool there was they actually released New trailers saying like catch the number one movie in the world, right?
29:44.91
tanomsak
Yeah. Where they, where they put all the, you know, Chan, you know, the, the ratings up there at 100, you know, or fantastic.
29:46.12
Jaime G
ah
29:54.52
Jaime G
Yes, yes
29:55.14
tanomsak
You know.
29:56.49
Jaime G
Whereas Inside Out 2 kind of, for the most part, went under the radar, had like a really low, ah I guess, number of ads that I would see on online or on TV. But it just, wherever it came out, it was it was it was just magic. So, back to the fall guy, this was a movie that should have gotten in more love, and it didn't.
30:20.03
Jaime G
Check it out. It is a fun. It is honestly a fun sit down with some friends or family. Maybe not with kids because there's there's some mature language in it. But it's a fun movie. I would totally recommend that it. You said that whenever you you've talked to coworkers or other people about this, they're like, it was good. I haven't met anybody other than you, Tony, that's seen it.
30:46.30
tanomsak
Right. I think most people just missed it.
30:49.09
Jaime G
and Right.
30:49.80
tanomsak
Yeah. It's a good movie. It's one of those movies.
30:52.67
Jaime G
Yeah.
30:54.37
tanomsak
Like, you know, in 20 years when you, when you pass it, when you're switching channels and your TV, you're, you're going to stop no matter where you are in a movie and just finish watching it. You know how you can sit around with your wife and you sit there and go, well, you want to watch tonight?
31:05.85
Jaime G
Yeah.
31:08.32
tanomsak
I don't know. What do you want to watch? I don't know.
31:10.58
Jaime G
Uh
31:11.03
tanomsak
And you can't make your decision, but when when you start going through the channels, you come across the movie that's already you started.
31:16.18
Jaime G
huh.
31:17.52
tanomsak
Oh yeah, let's watch this. It's exactly.
31:20.79
Jaime G
i've been I've been in that scenario many a times.
31:24.13
tanomsak
Oh yeah, I mean, if you're married, you've been in an app scenario.
31:25.47
Jaime G
Yeah, totally.
31:27.39
tanomsak
It's like Groundhog's Day. Over and over and over.
31:35.09
Jaime G
You gotta to break this cycle somehow.
31:37.64
tanomsak
Right?
31:39.51
Jaime G
aye So Tony, let me tell you something that happened to me and I'm like upset and kicking myself around for this.
31:40.43
tanomsak
All right.
31:49.23
Jaime G
um and When I bought my SSD for my PlayStation 5 maybe two years ago, I decided to buy a one that was a they didn't use a heatsink, but they actually sold it with this sovereign cover to replace the cover that goes on your PlayStation 5 where you house the SSD.
31:57.90
tanomsak
Yeah.
32:18.85
tanomsak
Yeah.
32:19.44
Jaime G
Notice on the back, it's this thing, and you know for listeners, I'm showing the the cover that I'm using. It's really thick, right? And what it does is that it fills the the gap, it's got some thermal paste, and it sits on top of this. So I've had for like forever a one terabyte SSD on my PlayStation 5, and I'm using this, and there's actually some really cool explanations about how this magical thing actually keeps your SSD cooler than actually using a heatsink.
32:53.06
Jaime G
Because the way it's got like all these ridges on it, it redirects airflow.
32:53.35
tanomsak
Okay.
32:57.68
Jaime G
And I mean, there's like all types of documentaries explaining how this works better than a heatsink in keeping your your memory cool. Well, long story short is over the Memorial Day weekend, there was like some really interesting deals to get some SSDs.
33:16.08
Jaime G
So I got this guy.
33:17.65
tanomsak
Yeah.
33:18.25
Jaime G
This guy right here that I'm holding in my hand, it's the box because the the other the unit is actually installed in my PlayStation. Look at this white thing. You see what this is?
33:27.59
tanomsak
Yeah.
33:28.88
Jaime G
A heat sink.
33:29.10
tanomsak
The heating.
33:30.50
Jaime G
Yeah. Guess what happens when you put a heat sink, SSD, an SSD with a heat sink, and then you try to install this guy?
33:36.70
tanomsak
It doesn't fit.
33:40.53
Jaime G
It doesn't fit.
33:43.26
Jaime G
Okay, I have turned my house upside down five times probably.
33:47.86
tanomsak
You can't find the cover.
33:49.79
Jaime G
I can't find the cover.
33:56.23
Jaime G
And I'm like so upset that to the point that I had last night, I just couldn't sleep thinking like, where did I put that stupid cover?
33:58.46
tanomsak
Hmm. Yeah, now you got this janky PS5. Hmm.
34:14.15
Jaime G
Well, I told my son because ah the the PlayStation 5 is sitting upstairs, like upside down with the cover with the cover off. I said, you can't play this PS5 right now. So he's like, why? like Because I need to put a cover on. He's like, why? Because I lost them. Why?
34:34.66
Jaime G
like So I had to order one. ah When you went off of Amazon and believe it or not now apparently the covers for the SSDs for their This at different size and if you have a PlayStation 5 slim Uh-huh, and so they've discontinued the original PlayStation fives and
34:53.88
tanomsak
Oh really?
35:03.92
tanomsak
so
35:04.28
Jaime G
So it was not easy to find one that would fit.
35:06.35
tanomsak
Yeah.
35:08.01
Jaime G
It's like all these things that are happening over me changing the the SSD to one that had like a built-in heatsink.
35:16.50
tanomsak
yeah
35:19.73
Jaime G
Yeah.
35:21.36
tanomsak
Oh, well, I guess you had to get the new you had to get the new SSD because of, you know, other video games coming out here in in the fall, like Call of Duty and stuff.
35:21.54
Jaime G
So you will not see me online.
35:31.67
tanomsak
You know, it's going to be 300 gigabytes.
35:35.33
Jaime G
300 gigabytes? No. It was like 600 gigabytes for like Call of Duty Modern war Warfare.
35:46.79
tanomsak
Yeah. I'm talking about just a base game.
35:49.17
Jaime G
now Yeah, right.
35:50.71
tanomsak
And they start tacking on the x how how they merge everything and make it where it all has one dashboard. But it requires yeah but it requires you to have all these modules installed you know that are like 100 gigapiece.
35:56.56
Jaime G
It's all like one one common dashboard. Uh-huh.
36:06.31
tanomsak
Yeah, Activision development.
36:06.69
Jaime G
Yeah, so I can't play anyway, but when I do get my my new cover, I'll be sitting on a two terabyte SSD.
36:18.17
tanomsak
Nice.
36:19.43
Jaime G
Yeah.
36:20.57
tanomsak
Nice. you have to delete You don't have to delete games over and over again.
36:22.08
Jaime G
So don't be like me, man. If you ever change your SSD, remember when you put your cover. Yeah.
36:29.16
Jaime G
um All right. um Now, something that we're celebrating today is today we're recording this on September the 9th, 2024. For those who might were probably too young to remember this, the last Sega console was released, which was the Sega Dreamcast was released on September the 9th, 1999. Because it was like such an easy number to remember. It was 9999.
37:01.86
Jaime G
ah So it is 25 years old. A lot of retailers are starting to re-release Sega Dreamcast merchandise, like hats, hoodies, like comme commemorative things. like it's It actually is coming up and on Amazon as of today. this This console, I had it. I was one of the early adopters, and I honestly remember that it was just like great. This past weekend, actually,
37:31.47
Jaime G
okay I was on Facebook marketplace and I found a guy. I don't think he knows what he's sitting on. He was selling a Sega Dreamcast with like maybe 18 CDs for a hundred bucks.
37:47.03
tanomsak
Yeah. Oh, wow.
37:50.67
Jaime G
And you know, I saw the games that he had, that he was selling.
37:51.31
tanomsak
You didn't buy it.
37:54.72
Jaime G
The games alone are worth more than a hundred bucks to the right collector than the actual Dreamcast. So I, he listed this in Nashville. I started, I hit him up with like, Hey, is this still available? He's like, yeah, I still got it. You want it. I'm like, dude, I'm on my way. Where is, where, where, where do you want to meet up?
38:17.54
tanomsak
So did you end up getting it?
38:17.85
Jaime G
So again, I said, no, because he listed this in Nashville and I'm actually trying to open up my, my, my phone because I was like, dude,
38:29.61
tanomsak
But he's not in Nashville.
38:31.50
Jaime G
No, he was not.
38:32.52
tanomsak
He's in Seattle or something.
38:32.86
Jaime G
He is in. In Jackson, Tennessee.
38:38.44
tanomsak
Oh, that's only two hours west of Nashville. I mean, we just had a good time there.
38:44.19
Jaime G
At that point, I was like, no, man, I'm not driving two hours. I mean, because the other part is I was OK, here's the part that I haven't told you is that I took my son to get a haircut and I was like, I can sneak in a drive to Nashville and back.
38:59.28
Jaime G
and not have to ask for permission or say I'm sorry.
39:02.90
tanomsak
I mean, why are you in Jackson?
39:06.29
Jaime G
Yeah, right. I mean, it's like, Jaime, it's been five hours. Where is this haircut, please?
39:14.42
tanomsak
Yeah.
39:16.35
Jaime G
But but no, I really saw it. I saw the games that he was listing. I was like, these games are legit. And I can always reverse engineer some things on the Dreamcast to make it play like backup games, but I can't get the actual physical games.
39:30.35
tanomsak
Yeah.
39:36.22
Jaime G
And so again, he was sitting on a goldmine, honestly.
39:39.06
tanomsak
Yeah. Oh, yeah.
39:42.96
tanomsak
1999. Is that the start of.
39:50.20
tanomsak
Like the PS3 in the 360 era, or was that like.
39:50.81
Jaime G
The millennium.
39:57.60
tanomsak
PS2 and.
40:02.00
tanomsak
Time frame, what what was what was the Xbox in my PlayStation during at the time?
40:04.11
Jaime G
Okay, so so you're right. You're right. the night the The Dreamcast was ahead of its time. It was like the first next-gen console, although they're always the next-gen console. Because the PlayStation 2, my friend, released, I think, in like 2000 or 2001. And then the Xbox console came after that. The Dreamcast was the very first one that came out.
40:32.09
Jaime G
It was running its its own unique Windows operating system, which actually was its downfall because people figured out how to like make backup games and make it read like, you know, bootleg copies very easily.
40:37.43
tanomsak
Mm-hmm. Yeah.
40:47.57
Jaime G
It was the first game ever, console ever, that you could play games online in a very good, decent way. It had a built-in like phone jack in the back, man.
40:59.83
tanomsak
Now what?
41:01.50
Jaime G
because they would like do dial up. ah But you can get you could get an attachment and remove that remove that piece and put one for like an ethernet if you're like really, really you know high tech at the time.
41:04.54
tanomsak
Down up.
41:15.71
Jaime G
But the very first game that you could play online on this was called Choo Choo Rocket. And it I was just like, what in the world is this thing? But then there the one, the big one was fantasy star online.
41:30.06
Jaime G
Everyone was playing that man.
41:30.47
tanomsak
Mm hmm.
41:32.01
Jaime G
And it managed to do so so much so well. They even incorporated like some online elements, like the Sonic adventure games, which. For a Sonic game to do online stuff, it was unheard of. You you could like raise these little like Pokemon-looking thingies that were called Chows and race them against other players. and Depending on how you raised it, yours would be faster than another one. so i mean This console was great. you know Hats off to the Dreamcast, 25 years. It had a really short life cycle, like three years before it got like completely killed.
42:10.97
tanomsak
Yeah.
42:11.62
Jaime G
but it was it was honestly one of the good ones.
42:20.81
tanomsak
Yeah. It's crazy thinking about online multiplayer in 1999 with that one. I can't remember what that looked like. I'm thinking like, you know, hearing that America online dial, you know, dial up.
42:40.38
tanomsak
And then playing games like, you know, with where everything is sent like via email attachment or something.
42:43.41
Jaime G
This is in the middle of that.
42:49.05
Jaime G
Yeah, this is exactly in the middle of that. In 1999, I remember that the big game that people were playing was Unreal Tournament Arena. And this is like on PC.
43:01.35
tanomsak
Yeah.
43:02.65
Jaime G
right But to have a home console that could get online and do things like that, boom, that was it.
43:11.61
tanomsak
Yep. Crazy.
43:15.31
Jaime G
Yeah. All right. And moving on to other news. ah Did you pick up Astrobot?
43:24.81
tanomsak
No, I did not.
43:27.23
Jaime G
Well, this is being hailed as probably the very first time that Sony is releasing a platformer like Nintendo style platformer with like Mario Brothers and stuff like that.
43:45.90
tanomsak
Yeah.
43:47.21
Jaime G
I mean, to the point that a lot of people major media outlets are saying, Astro Bot should be PlayStation's mascot. and And this statement right here made me sit back and think about, has Sony, PlayStation ever had a mascot?
44:10.18
tanomsak
I mean, a mascot.
44:13.35
Jaime G
ah huh
44:18.66
tanomsak
I mean, Kratos, the last few years has been the face, but I don't know if the mascot.
44:23.16
Jaime G
Okay. Kratos has been an IP.
44:29.31
Jaime G
um It's like it's like me sound like Joel or Ellie are a mascot. They're not. I mean, the closest thing that in my mind I can think of for Sony PlayStation maybe was Crash Bandicoot, but that disappeared.
44:46.02
tanomsak
But, yeah.
44:49.09
Jaime G
And then they tried to bring it back, but then it kind of failed miserably.
44:51.97
tanomsak
Yeah.
44:52.13
Jaime G
And it's so it's gone again, right?
44:54.00
tanomsak
Yeah. And it, the crash bandicoot collection is now available on Xbox game pass.
44:54.50
Jaime G
I mean, there's been like...
45:00.89
Jaime G
Yeah, they made like a fighter, like ah ah like a melee.
45:02.63
tanomsak
Yeah. yeah
45:05.05
Jaime G
um but so So Sony's always had a lot of really recognizable franchises. Let's put it that way.
45:11.97
tanomsak
Yeah. Yeah.
45:13.71
Jaime G
I mean, Parappa the Rapper. I mean, I don't know if you remember that. the Patapon games, the, I mean, there's ah there's a lot that we can you know throw throw out there that are PlayStation franchises, but they've never really had a mascot.
45:30.98
tanomsak
Right.
45:31.36
Jaime G
I mean, like Mario Brothers is to Nintendo, to Sonic is to Sega. What's what's the one that would come to my PlayStation? But anyway,
45:43.99
Jaime G
I think that it's, it's actually an interesting conversation to have because when they released a PlayStation five, what was the game that came with it? Astrobot.
45:54.13
tanomsak
Right.
45:55.51
Jaime G
Give it a couple of years. Here's an Astrobot game. Oh, apparently it's great.
46:00.87
tanomsak
Yeah, I mean, this conversation that it's could be a game of the year contender, right?
46:01.18
Jaime G
I told you that.
46:06.92
Jaime G
Yes.
46:07.17
tanomsak
It's it's gotten that sort of perception.
46:07.95
Jaime G
Yes.
46:09.28
tanomsak
It's like 10 out of 10, you know, 70 percent scores are 10 out of 10.
46:15.60
Jaime G
Yeah.
46:18.47
Jaime G
People were much more excited when they announced Astrobot than than than they were when they announced Borderlands 4.
46:18.67
tanomsak
So.
46:26.19
tanomsak
Yeah, I mean, they do need they like Nintendo has got you know, these type of games, right? These platforming type of games. um But yes, ah the for Sony to be able to have this too, it would be great for them.
46:43.07
tanomsak
I mean, I look i like Astrobot, but it was used as a selling point for like the haptics on the controller and you know, the next gen portion of PS5.
46:44.42
Jaime G
Right.
46:46.74
Jaime G
and and And here hear they listen to you.
46:55.95
tanomsak
And I think the question even then was, they should be making a full fledged game with this character. And now apparently they have. Well, it wasn't my conversation as other people's, you know, professional, you know, industry people were like, oh, well, they should have a full fledged game out of this because it's so good, you know, because the the original aspects only like two or three hours. Right.
47:23.21
Jaime G
do you did Do you know that there was, like, another Astro Bot game that you could only play with, like, the the VR headset?
47:30.89
tanomsak
Yeah, I think we talked about that the last episode you mentioned that.
47:32.62
Jaime G
Uh-huh.
47:34.94
Jaime G
Yep.
47:35.95
tanomsak
So yeah, now I'm interested in playing it because like, like I said, I like Astrobot and it's getting these really, really good scores. And like, I don't, I'm sure it's only digital.
47:50.20
Jaime G
No. No, no, it's physical.
47:50.72
tanomsak
No, you can get a physical version.
47:53.39
Jaime G
Yeah. Well, well, I told you that they were going to release a limited edition Astrobot PS5 controller, which sold out within minutes.
47:54.28
tanomsak
Really?
48:03.94
tanomsak
Yeah.
48:04.18
Jaime G
And the odds of them making another one of this is probably pretty slim. It is reselling for 200 bucks right now.
48:15.46
tanomsak
Well, yeah, you said it was going to be a short supply, be collectors item, so.
48:18.88
Jaime G
Yep. ye And this is the step that I shared with you earlier is that right away, there's 173 Easter egg characters in this game across multiple franchises that have had games in so and the PlayStation ah platform.
48:41.12
tanomsak
Yeah.
48:41.44
Jaime G
Not all of them are Sony IPs, but there's that's a lot, man, 173. little robots dressed as characters that you're gonna recognize, or maybe not recognize, but they're there.
48:55.96
tanomsak
Yeah. Yeah. I think we were talking about earlier in one of the, uh, the days gone developer was like, Oh, it wasn't happy that, um, the main character from, uh, days gone was in the Astro bot game.
49:09.94
tanomsak
I don't know. Why wouldn't you be happy? Why wouldn't you want something?
49:14.67
Jaime G
I mean, it's it's recognition that your game mattered.
49:16.69
tanomsak
Yeah. Right. Yeah. Like if he wasn't in there, you'd be complaining. How come my guys on in there?
49:23.88
Jaime G
Right.
49:24.06
tanomsak
I think it's just one of those people just was complaining.
49:26.87
Jaime G
I mean, he's he's trying to get back on the spotlight somehow.
49:30.76
tanomsak
Yeah, well, um I think i think ah there's a bitterness, you know, maybe when they didn't get a sequel to the game that somebody didn't order a sequel, so I don't know.
49:44.37
Jaime G
Well, it it it apparently sold okay, good throughout its whole entire run. But these companies are more focused on like how much you're bringing in the first three months.
49:57.86
tanomsak
Right, yeah. Yeah.
50:00.47
Jaime G
Yeah. Okay.
50:01.31
tanomsak
All right, so earlier in the year, we decided to put on a little competition.
50:01.99
Jaime G
All right.
50:09.37
tanomsak
ah you know We it the draft. I don't know what, did we have an official name for it? The idea was to draft each each of us, you, me, yeah, the draft, um where each of us would draft you know three games that were coming out between like January 15th and September 1st.
50:16.18
Jaime G
Yeah. Yeah. It, it was called the draft.
50:30.85
tanomsak
And whoever had the highest score, cumulative score, adding their games together from, was it Metacritic? Was our benchmark?
50:40.74
Jaime G
It was Metacritic, yep.
50:42.99
tanomsak
Whoever had the highest score, ah you know we crowned the great video game prognosticator ah for Good to Game Radio. So we had you, me, Vance and one listener joined in, Jayrod.
50:55.38
Jaime G
JRod, yep.
50:58.10
tanomsak
So I'm assuming that you've added up the scores.
51:04.19
Jaime G
I have now, I'm gonna admit to this. There was two questionable entries that I was like, I don't know if they're going to make it. But one of them didn't. And that was unfortunately Vance's pick for Hades 2. It hasn't had a full release. So there are still no scores in Metacritic for that one. So his average kind of not looking so hot because he's basically missing a whole score.
51:34.29
tanomsak
Right.
51:34.65
Jaime G
um
51:35.21
tanomsak
Which, you know, that was one of the things, you know, who said you you have to weigh the chances of the game not hitting your release date. So.
51:46.46
Jaime G
Right? Okay, so... Vance's picks were Tekken 8, Hades 2, and Star Wars Outlaws. Guess what? Star Wars Outlaws made it.
51:57.34
tanomsak
Barely.
51:58.81
Jaime G
Yeah. And he had... Tekken 8 has an a Metacritic score of 90. That's solid. Star Wars Outlaws has a 76, so he was looking good, okay?
52:10.62
Jaime G
But the fact that Hades 2 just didn't come out just killed him. So he's actually sitting at a 55 average because he's missing one all together.
52:22.64
Jaime G
um And I'm going, you know, bottom score to highest score. Tony, you would have been third place out of four. um The reason for that is that you picked Prince of Persia, which it was a great game. It's sitting at an 86 average Pacific Drive kind of started with a lower score, but it's moved up to 79 and rise of the Ronin at 76. 76 was your lowest. Now, if we average up your scores, you're sitting at an 80.3. You know, no applause here effects for Tony because he he actually picked some really good games got her got to recognize um second place.
53:12.66
Jaime G
Having selected Dragon's Dogma 2, Paper Mario, and Space Marine, which just released just in the nick of time, was J-Rod. right Dragon's Dogma 2 sitting on an 86 Paper Mario with an 88. You can't quote wrong with the Mario games. And Space Marine, even though people are like saying good things about it, Metacritic says 76. So he's sitting at an 83, which is awesome.
53:43.70
Jaime G
Now the winner, which, and which should come to no surprise to anybody was myself. I haven't picked like a dragon infinite wealth, final fantasy seven rebirth, which you and advance wanted to tank me on that one and held divers too. So like a dragon scored an 89.
54:10.39
Jaime G
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth 92, which by the way is the highest-scored game out of ah everything in the draft, and Helldivers 2 is sitting at an 82. So my average came out to be an 87.6.
54:27.01
Jaime G
so
54:27.08
tanomsak
Okay. Yeah, congratulations.
54:30.22
Jaime G
So...
54:31.56
tanomsak
Congratulations.
54:32.74
Jaime G
I lucked out with Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, to be quite honest. If it had been sitting mid-80s, I think you Jayrod and me and you would have all been like right there at the same spot.
54:47.61
Jaime G
And for your picks, I am just surprised that Prince of Persia didn't do better because it is it is a fun game. um Pacific Drive was, I think, your wild card.
55:01.75
tanomsak
Yeah.
55:03.69
Jaime G
But Rise of the Ronin, I was not expecting that to be the lowest ah of your picks.
55:10.51
tanomsak
Well, obviously I didn't either. yeah yeah All right.
55:15.56
Jaime G
i
55:16.22
tanomsak
All right. So now we have to, you know, I mean crown you the first ever draft video game prognosticating champion and set up the, uh,
55:29.79
Jaime G
Yep.
55:32.47
tanomsak
Round two for next year.
55:35.17
Jaime G
You're right. And I'm going to have to reach out to Jayrod and congratulate him and still say, hey, you did great. You could have done better.
55:45.17
tanomsak
Yeah. Right. That's just not as great as Jaime.
55:50.70
Jaime G
Yeah, well there's always next year.
55:54.16
tanomsak
Yeah, there's always next year. All right. Cool. Well, awesome. This has been a great episode talking about and movies and video games and pretty much wrapping up the summer, ah summer for us here at Good to Game Radio. And just, you know, it's been kind of a slow summer game wise, but, you know, we've had plenty of other media things to talk about, a lot of pop culture stuff. Do you ever get around to watching any episodes of From?
56:20.53
Jaime G
i I wanted to, but they it got quickly yanked out of Amazon.
56:24.13
tanomsak
to
56:26.01
Jaime G
Yeah.
56:28.07
tanomsak
So, um, yeah, it's, it's been a slower summer. So hope, like I said, we should be picking up with a lot more topics here, uh, over the next few weeks. So now it's time to jump back in, start listening and we'll catch you guys next week.
56:49.40
Jaime G
Yeah, enjoy.
