Travel Far, Play More: Board Gaming Beyond the Table
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
After a five-week hiatus, the Good2Game crew crash back onto the mics like a wave at Maho Beach—loud, chaotic, and slightly dangerous to your balance. Tony returns fresh off a cruise adventure that somehow turned into a traveling board game convention, complete with smugglin’ cats, map-drawing cartographers, and confused tourists asking if Caribbean islands have deer (spoiler: no, Lori, no they do not).
Vance checks in with bowling championship updates—progress was made, dignity mostly intact—and the duo leans hard into gaming as the ultimate social glue. Whether it’s Uno armies taking over cruise ships or strangers gathering around niche tabletop gems, the episode celebrates how games turn random humans into temporary party members.
Things escalate with pirate talk, Steam Deck sacrifices, and a passionate defense of Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag as the unofficial king of “you’re a pirate, don’t question it” simulators. Then it’s full nerd sails ahead with tales of high-stakes Battlestar Galactica betrayal and Tennessee Game Days greatness.
It’s a hodgepodge episode, sure—but it’s also peak Good2Game chaos: travel stories, gaming tangents, and just enough nonsense to keep things perfectly unhinged.

Tony Sisk
Hi folks, welcome back to Good2GameRadio and that's a big welcome back to Vance and myself because it's been five weeks since we've recorded an episode, which is crazy. It's just been a very, very busy month and a half.
00:00:16.66
Tony Sisk
I'm just getting back from vacation. Vance, you had like bowling championships going on and you know, Jaime isn't here to break the news you guys, but he's got some big things going on with his work.
00:00:28.28
Sentfrmheaven
Mm-hmm.
00:00:29.11
Tony Sisk
So, uh, we haven't been able to get any, ah any recordings in. So, and told, I just got back from vacation today.
00:00:41.16
Tony Sisk
Today from a 10 day cruise or a seven day cruise with like a couple extra days added on both sides of it and Got back into town.
00:00:51.58
Tony Sisk
I texted the guys. I'm like, hey podcast tonight because we we normally podcast on Monday nights and You know, I mean he was actually flying out at the same time I flew in so it's like ships passing in the night But vance vance is here.
00:01:04.18
Sentfrmheaven
Right.
00:01:08.16
Tony Sisk
What's up vance?
00:01:09.73
Sentfrmheaven
What up? What is up? What is up?
00:01:12.15
Tony Sisk
Yeah, so we're going to get a ah hodgepodge episode to you guys out. you know It's just be a collection of different topics. There's nothing you know specific I don't think we're hitting on. We're just going to talk about some random stuff. But we just wanted to get something out because it's been a few weeks. So...
00:01:36.77
Tony Sisk
hopefully we'll be back on our regular pattern in the next, next week, but let's, uh, man, let's just, uh, let's get into it. You know, uh, how's, how's it been going? How's it been going? How'd the championships go?
00:01:49.42
Sentfrmheaven
Um, the championships, they came and went, uh, they lost in the first round, but, um, they didn't even make the playoffs, uh, uh, last year. So they definitely um make a progress, you know?
00:02:01.87
Sentfrmheaven
So it's, it's, uh, very exciting, you know, just to see, you know, how the kids react and, you know, it's like, you know, Hey, this when I go home, you know, like what you're going to do, you know?
00:02:12.38
Sentfrmheaven
So, so yeah. Yeah.
00:02:14.78
Tony Sisk
So this is bowling, right?
00:02:15.10
Sentfrmheaven
Had a good time. Yep. yeah Yep. bowlley Yep. yep
00:02:18.81
Tony Sisk
Yeah.
00:02:19.23
Sentfrmheaven
Matter fact, one of our co-workers, their middle school won it all. But I mean, they got like, you know, some of the top bowlers in, and you know, the this area, whatever like that.
00:02:33.21
Sentfrmheaven
And I think they got Regis Wednesday, I think he was telling me. So the bowl, I guess, in other middle schools, I guess like all over the state. But yeah, yeah, real good team, real good team.
00:02:42.13
Tony Sisk
Cool, cool. I mean, i'm not I'm not a good bowler myself, so I'm like, I can never, I always bowl like 100.
00:02:50.38
Sentfrmheaven
Hey, hey, hey go.
00:02:50.44
Tony Sisk
That's it. Never, like, 88, 100, 111.
00:02:51.66
Sentfrmheaven
There
00:02:57.50
Tony Sisk
that's That's my range. ah ah I'm just, you know, yeah i just I'm just trying not to fall over when I'm i'm rolling the ball down the, they yeah like taking tiny steps, you know, like, where's my cane?
00:03:01.59
Sentfrmheaven
ah you you go. Yeah,
00:03:10.10
Tony Sisk
Help me move down here. But yeah, the bowling has never been my thing, but it is fun to get out there and and then give it a whirl.
00:03:12.56
Sentfrmheaven
yeah. Yeah.
00:03:16.60
Sentfrmheaven
yeah
00:03:20.79
Tony Sisk
of We actually had, a when we went on our trip, our live group from church, they had a social outing.
00:03:31.00
Tony Sisk
while we were gone and that's what they did.
00:03:32.48
Sentfrmheaven
Oh, nice, nice, nice.
00:03:32.68
Tony Sisk
They went and bowled.
00:03:32.98
Sentfrmheaven
Yeah.
00:03:33.60
Tony Sisk
So we got to see pictures from them bowling the first Sunday that we were away. So that was cool. You know, it's ah it's a great social event and that's a you know, it's a game.
00:03:41.30
Sentfrmheaven
um sp
00:03:46.58
Tony Sisk
So that's what's great. What's great about gaming. as a gaming podcast you know gaming is a is a social social activity right no matter what type of game it is i mean usually it's like you can involve somebody else unless you're just playing like a solitaire video game by yourself you know and there's nothing wrong with that but uh
00:04:03.23
Sentfrmheaven
Yeah. Right. Okay.
00:04:10.04
Tony Sisk
you know gaming is social activity speaking of i was like uh we had spent a couple days in san juan uh puerto rico at the very end of the cruise so our cruise left out of tampa uh and then we went to the bahamas uh we were supposed to go to grand turk but our port got canceled because of inclement weather and then
00:04:33.49
Sentfrmheaven
Right.
00:04:36.86
Tony Sisk
We went to St. Martin and then, and we went to Amy and I went to Maho beach. Have you heard Maho beach?
00:04:44.52
Sentfrmheaven
Mm hmm.
00:04:45.24
Tony Sisk
So it's the beach where the airplanes fly in really low.
00:04:49.58
Sentfrmheaven
Oh, OK, so I have heard it.
00:04:50.26
Tony Sisk
Yeah.
00:04:51.21
Sentfrmheaven
OK, yeah.
00:04:51.77
Tony Sisk
So it was, it was funny. I mean, cause we went, ah And I wasn't expecting much from the beach because nobody ever actually talks about the beach They just talk about the planes right going on landing over the beach.
00:05:01.93
Sentfrmheaven
Right. About the planes, right.
00:05:05.62
Tony Sisk
So I'm thinking okay. It's probably a crummy beach, right? It's it's probably got a chain link fence right up to the water's edge and like there's only like a couple feet of ah Beach there that you can actually stand on and in the and the water itself is probably full of rocks and and Trash and stuff is around the airport.
00:05:22.14
Tony Sisk
That's what I expect, right? like an industrial zone, whatever.
00:05:23.74
Sentfrmheaven
Right.
00:05:26.62
Tony Sisk
And it's like, okay, not expecting much from the beach. So for those of you that get the chance to go to the St.
00:05:30.44
Sentfrmheaven
Right.
00:05:33.67
Tony Sisk
Martin, you must do my whole beach because it's actually a very nice beach. I mean, the water was crystal clear, beautiful blue turquoise color.
00:05:48.64
Tony Sisk
It had waves. So it it it had waves, you know, that you can, you know, uh, just kind of let it, I mean, it was crashing. Like if you had a boogie board or something, you would have a lot more fun with it, but it was, cause Amy and I were going into the water, a man.
00:05:59.19
Sentfrmheaven
Yeah. Yeah. Mm.
00:06:04.61
Tony Sisk
And the wave hit hit her, knocked her down, carried her about 15 feet up the beach. And then it's like, you know, trying to get back up. And the second wave comes in and knocks you that it was doing that to people all day long.
00:06:18.10
Tony Sisk
But, uh, But the the beach itself was actually actually beautiful. There's like a beach um bar area there, you know restaurant and stuff. um There's a couple of resorts at the end.
00:06:31.10
Tony Sisk
ah And yeah, and the in the it there is a chain link fence, but it's up a ways over on the other side of a road roadway. but um
00:06:41.06
Sentfrmheaven
All right.
00:06:42.55
Tony Sisk
But the beach is actually it was it was actually very, very good. really enjoy i mean we so i think we were there for three and a half hours and and we were in and out of the water and stuff but we got images from um the planes coming in low right over the top of us while we're in the water and we're trying to keep our we didn't have like water uh proof uh cameras or anything we just had our cell phones right and we had these like uh lanyard uh
00:07:06.69
Sentfrmheaven
right, right, right.
00:07:13.40
Tony Sisk
ah Foam protectors that keep water out.
00:07:15.05
Sentfrmheaven
Yeah. Yeah.
00:07:15.52
Tony Sisk
They have a lock mechanism at the top. So we would wait till we saw a plane lights, you know plane lights way in the distance. And then like, okay, then we would be fighting the waves and trying to get our phones out of the,
00:07:31.80
Tony Sisk
of the, uh, water protectors. And then I get the images of planes coming in while you're, you know, while you're in the water and a wave is trying to knock you over. Cause you know, it was, uh, it was a good time.
00:07:43.37
Tony Sisk
I was like, Oh, it's like hunting, like hunting for a great image. And, uh, but you're also like dodging obstacles.
00:07:47.88
Sentfrmheaven
right there you go there you
00:07:50.56
Tony Sisk
It was like a video game. It's up in real life. But,
00:07:54.14
Sentfrmheaven
ah
00:07:54.84
Tony Sisk
but It was so funny, dude. People were so funny. So we had taken a taxi ride. So the ship docks in like Phillipsburg. Um, and then you get a taxi and,
00:08:07.61
Tony Sisk
over to the western to the west of the it's like four or five miles and they'll take you and it's for a round trip i think it was eighteen dollars a person um but uh that's just um information dropping for those travelers out there eighteen dollars eight dollars eighteen dollars a round trip taxi ride to uh majo beach but uh so we share we we're in a taxi like van
00:08:13.27
Sentfrmheaven
go
00:08:23.67
Sentfrmheaven
Right, right, right, right.
00:08:33.75
Tony Sisk
uh, with another group of people that were from Vermont. And, um, it was funny, man. We were, Amy and I sat in the back and we were laughing because, know, the taxi driver is really friendly.
00:08:45.55
Tony Sisk
He used you know, great English. And it's a Dutch, uh, former Dutch colony. don't know. It's a territory whatever it is, but it's Dutch, but everybody speaks great English.
00:08:52.14
Sentfrmheaven
Okay.
00:08:57.75
Tony Sisk
And I, all the signs are in English too. So, ah If you go there, you't have any trouble you trouble with the signage because it's all in English. But this lady, I don't need to make up a name for Her her name is Lori. And we kind of made a meme out of it later in the trip because this woman asked a guy. Now, this is an arid Caribbean island.
00:09:23.43
Tony Sisk
it's
00:09:23.57
Sentfrmheaven
What?
00:09:24.18
Tony Sisk
Think about this. She asked if do they hunt deer down here?
00:09:31.95
Tony Sisk
And we're like, what?
00:09:33.78
Sentfrmheaven
That's crazy.
00:09:33.91
Tony Sisk
What? but the the taxi The taxi driver was like, what? Deer. We don't have deer here.
00:09:46.71
Tony Sisk
Yeah.
00:09:46.97
Sentfrmheaven
new
00:09:47.59
Tony Sisk
and the And then when she asked, she's like, are there any alligators here? And he's like, lady. we ain't got no alligators here either.
00:10:00.92
Tony Sisk
He's like, how about snakes?
00:10:00.92
Sentfrmheaven
he
00:10:03.84
Tony Sisk
He's like, ain't got no snakes. We got no alligators. There ain't nothing here that's going to harm you. you You'll be perfectly fine.
00:10:10.68
Sentfrmheaven
Right.
00:10:12.18
Tony Sisk
And Amy and I were just like snickering in the backseat.
00:10:12.46
Sentfrmheaven
Right.
00:10:15.70
Sentfrmheaven
Right.
00:10:16.02
Tony Sisk
It's like, what is with this woman with these crazy questions?
00:10:16.05
Sentfrmheaven
like right
00:10:20.13
Tony Sisk
I'm like, golly, you need to get out more. but
00:10:22.51
Sentfrmheaven
Right. She's like, I'm going to go from Vermont to St. Martin's to hunt. you Like, okay.
00:10:29.37
Tony Sisk
Right? the Yeah. So that was funny.
00:10:33.50
Sentfrmheaven
of me
00:10:34.74
Tony Sisk
But the cruise is great. We, ah I don't know if I talked about, because we've been on a cruise the last couple years. And each time, well, maybe not two years ago, because we flew to the Mediterranean. But last year, we went on a Caribbean cruise the ABC Islands, which are like Curacao, Bonaire, and a Aruba and throw in Dominican Republic in there at the end.
00:11:03.08
Sentfrmheaven
Okay.
00:11:05.80
Tony Sisk
But that time I took board games with me. So worked really great. And this time I took board games with me. ah So when Danny and I went to Gen Con last year, ah my, my sole purpose of going my, my target,
00:11:27.56
Tony Sisk
games were games I could take with me on a cruise, right? So that's why I brought like half a dozen games that um fit in my backpack. And I did bring one good size game, but but majority of them were just smaller box games. And we played that on this cruise. And it was funny, you know we last year's cruise, you could walk around the ship and there was a lot of games being played that were similar to the type of games that I like to play. Like, you know, a little bit fancier type of board games and stuff.
00:12:06.94
Tony Sisk
But this one, there was nobody else really playing them except everybody was playing Uno. ah Like, man, there was a lot of people playing Uno.
00:12:14.36
Sentfrmheaven
Hey, they ain't classic.
00:12:16.82
Tony Sisk
I'm like, that's the game you bring? Can't stand un know But...
00:12:21.28
Sentfrmheaven
Hey, speaking of that scene, I would have asked like how everybody's playing because you know uno is one of them games like these are the basic you know rules and regulations but then everybody has their own house rules like i want to see you know especially when you have a crew you got people from different parts of the country so it's like you know all over the world probably so it's like hey you know how how do y'all play you know like let's see let's if y'all smart over there in the dutchland
00:12:43.28
Tony Sisk
Right.
00:12:46.39
Tony Sisk
Yeah. So we were like, you know, Uno was being played. i mean, that was the majority of people were playing, you know, there was the people playing phase 10. Have you played that one? I only recently played that.
00:12:59.67
Tony Sisk
Uh, but,
00:13:03.51
Sentfrmheaven
right Right. That's exactly how it feels. Yeah.
00:13:08.02
Tony Sisk
um but Yeah, we i i Amy and I played games every day. We had a sea day and this ship actually had a lot of sea days because it was a repositioning cruise from that the ship was normally docked in Tampa and originates from there for most of its itineraries.
00:13:28.66
Tony Sisk
But they were changing it up and they were moving the ship to where it would originate out of San Juan. um So they call it repositioning when they're moving that ship from different port locations so like that. so ah So we were going from Tampa to its new home port in San Juan and there were a lot of sea days, right? So it was like Bahamas.
00:13:55.00
Tony Sisk
So the ship left Saturday night and Sunday. was a sea day. So we played, what did we play?
00:14:05.96
Tony Sisk
Yeah, we play like a game called Cascadia, um where you're trying to like create habitats, like score habitats for, different animals and stuff that you roll dice for. And you have like little, uh, uh, map that you fill out and stuff like that. Super easy game. And all these games were new games to Amy. So i had to explain them to her.
00:14:28.12
Tony Sisk
um And then I had one called Nico Syndicate where you're running and you're running a
00:14:40.48
Tony Sisk
smuggling. It's not really smuggling. Like an illegal sushi network.
00:14:47.76
Sentfrmheaven
Geez.
00:14:48.70
Tony Sisk
Yeah, except the characters are all cats. So...
00:14:52.83
Sentfrmheaven
Makes sense.
00:14:53.05
Tony Sisk
you So it's like, it's set in like Japan and the cats are operating a illegal sus a sushi thing.
00:14:53.87
Sentfrmheaven
Hmm.
00:15:00.37
Tony Sisk
So the story behind it is like the mob, like the head mafia guy. Yeah. The head mafia guy is retiring, so he needs a replacement, somebody to take over.
00:15:13.51
Tony Sisk
And all like the family heads are competing to see who can who can smuggle the best sushi the most and be most efficient at it.
00:15:21.52
Sentfrmheaven
Mm-hmm.
00:15:24.10
Tony Sisk
so That one gave everybody a good laugh because like you would set out like a you so you formed like a pyramid of cards. and you put cubes on them that represent the sushi and you try to move the sushi around the town and like the the cards would have different type of cats on them and the cats would like one would be like a chef and one would be like a little lady delivery woman and like it's like oh different roles and whatever but um so it had a pretty good table presence and um
00:15:58.90
Tony Sisk
people would come by and be like, Hey man, what are you playing? And they'd ask a bunch of questions and take a bunch of pictures and stuff like that. So that that's a, and that going back to the social aspect of things, like, um, we would have all kinds of people come up and ask us, you know, what were we playing?
00:16:17.06
Tony Sisk
Never seen a game like that before. Where do you get those type of games? You know, we had some people, you know, play with us, um,
00:16:20.98
Sentfrmheaven
Yeah.
00:16:25.34
Tony Sisk
So, and I told Amy, I'm in the only other place where you hit, hit you have a really, uh, that kind of, uh, significant social interaction with on a ship full of, but you know, thousands of people is in the hot tub when you're just kind of sitting there and a lot of people are just drinking and sitting in the hot tub and you start a conversation like, so you have that. And,
00:16:48.57
Tony Sisk
you know the games are a great you know way to start up conversations with people and we we enjoy doing that sort of stuff so we uh we did that on each of the sea days and on ship but when we got to san juan um and stayed there for a couple of days uh there's a couple of uh i don't know if you've been to san juan before but
00:16:55.28
Sentfrmheaven
Right.
00:17:12.47
Tony Sisk
You have El Moro, which is like the fortress castle that oversits the entrance into the port. And then you have San Cristobal, which is like another fort.
00:17:25.46
Tony Sisk
And this is these are forts from like the 1500s, right? The Spanish built these like 500 years ago.
00:17:28.92
Sentfrmheaven
Okay. Okay.
00:17:31.96
Tony Sisk
um And the San Cristobal is like the fort that... Protects the backside. Of Moro. It protects the land approach.
00:17:44.98
Tony Sisk
To the. The other castle. So. We're going through there. And you know. We're taking pictures on the rampart. And there's like tunnels you can go down into. And it was really cool. And then we went into like the barracks section.
00:18:01.21
Tony Sisk
And. it was like a replica. Of where how the soldiers lived. During that time. And I can say those guys, man, wo it must've been hot. It was, it was in the, it was, it felt like it was in the upper nineties while we were standing there.
00:18:18.97
Tony Sisk
And i can't imagine these guys running around the type of clothing they had back in the 1500s and stuff like that. Um, but, uh, I looked it over and it had this glass cabinet over, uh,
00:18:24.67
Sentfrmheaven
Right.
00:18:32.85
Tony Sisk
in the corner and it's in the barracks right and uh it was games that the soldiers played from the 1500s right there was a deck of uno cards in there dude no
00:18:42.72
Sentfrmheaven
Let me guess. You saw a deck of Uno in there?
00:18:50.23
Tony Sisk
yeah no no but there was actually some pretty intricate games in there like like uh There was one called the captain's mistress or something. And it's basically right. they It's called the captain's mistress because like it was played on like ships and stuff.
00:19:12.79
Tony Sisk
And the guy who first played it or whoever invented this or whatever, played it so much in his cabin. Like the captain did play it so much. Yeah.
00:19:24.02
Tony Sisk
in his cabin that, um, his crew said, he's like, Oh, it must be his mistress in there. And it was really the captain's mistress. So it's like literally the precursor for connect four.
00:19:33.22
Sentfrmheaven
That's funny. Hmm.
00:19:36.73
Sentfrmheaven
okay
00:19:36.82
Tony Sisk
Right. So yeah, it's like, it's so it's a wooden board. uh, or like a box and you flip over from the lid and the lid is where you drop these, uh, white and black wooden balls, right? There's like slots.
00:19:55.64
Tony Sisk
So you drop them in there just I can connect four. And the object is to connect for a row of four of the same colored balls, uh, whether it be vertical, horizontal, or diagonally.
00:20:03.39
Sentfrmheaven
Wow.
00:20:06.59
Tony Sisk
So it's connect four. And, um, And then when, when you're done, it has what they call the plank.
00:20:10.36
Sentfrmheaven
pretty cool.
00:20:14.36
Tony Sisk
You pull the plank out from the bottom and all the balls dropped down into the reservoir of the box. So, uh, Yeah, they had a whole cabin.
00:20:24.54
Sentfrmheaven
That's pretty cool.
00:20:26.01
Tony Sisk
I think i got some great I got some great pictures of them. I'll probably put them on our Instagram if you guys want to check that out. But, yeah, I mean, it's crazy. These games, and it was crazy to me because, one I think most people would just kind of, like, not pay attention to this, you know, this exhibit over here.
00:20:43.75
Tony Sisk
And I'm thinking, oh, man, these are, these are like, elaborate games.
00:20:43.94
Sentfrmheaven
Right. Right.
00:20:49.22
Sentfrmheaven
Right.
00:20:49.27
Tony Sisk
Like, I mean, yeah.
00:20:52.98
Tony Sisk
yeah Outside of the production quality, you know, what they had actually, ah actually, was pretty interesting. Like they were very well produced considering these were hundreds of years old.
00:21:05.02
Tony Sisk
You know, they had like, you know, fancy dice. They had like cards that are like, you know, they spent some time like putting images and stuff on them that are fancy. you know It's like, okay.
00:21:19.03
Tony Sisk
Like a board that you move around like ah think of like a life. It looked like a life game. like so
00:21:26.82
Sentfrmheaven
Right. Right.
00:21:30.04
Tony Sisk
So I got you some great images of those, but that was the fun it fun cruise. I got back today and you know had a great time playing those games and seeing history of games too on the cruise. And oh oh it was funny. i did take I took one game. People probably think this is corny. I took one game called Cartographers where you're trying to map.
00:21:53.91
Tony Sisk
you have like Each player has a map a map a grid map and then you flip car a a card over and it'll give you like a random shape or two to pick from.
00:22:05.40
Tony Sisk
And then you have to go,
00:22:05.57
Sentfrmheaven
Right. Okay.
00:22:08.89
Tony Sisk
draw on your map, like whatever geographic feature that it tells you, you have to draw it. And since each person's map is the same, but you get to pick where you're going to put these geographic features. So then you score points based on another set of cards that uh give you like uh scoring objectives based on how these geographic features set up i took i took ah this box of cartographers with me to maho beach and i i set them up there like there's some rocks there i put up put the box on the rock and i get this great image of like just you know airplane coming down for landing and there's this ocean And then you've got the sand and then, you cart, this cartographer's box is just kind of sitting there, good you know, with the sun, you know, shining down. It was a great image. I get so again, check out our Instagram. It'll be on there.
00:23:05.82
Tony Sisk
ah So,
00:23:06.81
Sentfrmheaven
Nice, nice, nice. So, yeah, so you've touched on the board games, touched on, ah like, you know, playing cards. um Were there a lot of handhelds? Like, like and did you see, like, people, like, lot of handheld games out there?
00:23:25.21
Tony Sisk
So let's see. Um, well, we'll start with, I did take my steam deck. Right. And, We are non-rev travelers. Amy and I, we like to take advantage of our non-rev benefits.
00:23:41.66
Tony Sisk
So when you non-rev travel, you typically travel light, right? We're talking a carry-on and a backpack each.
00:23:48.05
Sentfrmheaven
Right. That's it.
00:23:50.12
Tony Sisk
So space is precious, right? So for me to already put half dozen board games in my baggage, right?
00:23:52.53
Sentfrmheaven
Fresh is...
00:23:57.07
Sentfrmheaven
Right.
00:23:57.59
Tony Sisk
and and my steam deck and a book like half the space i had available to me was taken up with stuff that i could not you know it wasn't clothing so uh i was like yeah that's how much value i put on the on this stuff so i took the the steam deck and um i just bought
00:24:08.94
Sentfrmheaven
Right.
00:24:21.61
Tony Sisk
mouse pi the morning that we left right so mouse pi which is one of my choices for our prognosticator competition was mouse pi for me i bought it it's available for 29 think you get on ps5 for 29 i bought on the steam deck and uh
00:24:25.39
Sentfrmheaven
Okay.
00:24:46.14
Tony Sisk
You know, just ah played it on a flight down to Tampa. I played it in Tampa. And then i didn't play it anything on my Steam Deck the entire rest of the cruise because I was mainly playing board games and stuff.
00:25:01.93
Sentfrmheaven
Board games, right, yeah.
00:25:02.71
Tony Sisk
I didn't really see anybody else playing any handhelds that I saw until... the flight back i saw and these people weren't on a cruise with or anything they were just on a plane and some people were playing like their switch twos um which looked really nice by the way so
00:25:18.80
Sentfrmheaven
Mm-hmm, mm-hmm.
00:25:22.88
Sentfrmheaven
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I think so. Because, i yeah cause like, you know, work, of course, you know, I've seen I've seen ah more Steam decks,
00:25:35.35
Sentfrmheaven
ah the Xbox console, what the Xbox handheld that came out. I've seen like probably two or three people with that. And then see more people with the Switch whatever like that.
00:25:47.54
Sentfrmheaven
But yeah, because I'm like, because, you know, especially you're on on a ship, you know, you have like a lot of activities. But i know you said about the sea days, whatever like that. So was wondering, if a you know, like um as far as the handheld. But yeah, I can definitely see more, you know, board games and card games being played, you know, because those, I mean, are easier to carry. Don't need batteries. Don't need Wi-Fi. You know, don't need internet. Just pop it out, you know, and hey, you know, ready to go.
00:26:15.48
Tony Sisk
Yeah, plus it's like when the the handhelds are more often than not are probably, unless you have access to a big screen TV that you can plug it into or something like that, you're mainly going to be playing by yourself.
00:26:28.14
Tony Sisk
So like last year, I had my Steam Deck with me and like I would play a little bit in the cabin, but like waiting while Amy got ready for dinner or something like that.
00:26:39.62
Tony Sisk
i would pull it out and play it while
00:26:41.93
Sentfrmheaven
Yeah. Yeah.
00:26:42.78
Tony Sisk
I was waiting for her to get ready. Um, so yeah, I mean, if you're, if you like to just have some alone time and play, you know, you could do that for sure. But, uh, we have discovered that board gaming is excellent, excellent activity on a cruise ship. So just because it generates that conversation and you get to meet people, know, um,
00:27:06.94
Tony Sisk
that are interested, and, and they learn something new. Typically was like, I've never met anybody that's like, or you said, Oh, I've already played that game. Can I play with you?
00:27:15.79
Sentfrmheaven
Right.
00:27:16.30
Tony Sisk
It's all, everybody's always like, I've never seen that.
00:27:16.56
Sentfrmheaven
Right.
00:27:18.98
Tony Sisk
Can I, you know, didn't explain it to me and stuff like that.
00:27:19.92
Sentfrmheaven
Right.
00:27:22.01
Tony Sisk
So it's like, and then you, you get to share something ah new to somebody. So, uh, that's always fun.
00:27:28.70
Sentfrmheaven
Yeah.
00:27:29.96
Tony Sisk
So, um
00:27:32.47
Sentfrmheaven
Now, now another question i know. um I think Last of Us, I know you said um you've seen a place in there that's in Boston. Now, when you were your ah trip, did you did you visit any places or were you close to any places that have appeared in, you know, video games and stuff like that?
00:27:53.88
Tony Sisk
So,
00:27:57.21
Tony Sisk
ah I mean, talking about this particular trip? Or, yeah.
00:28:00.25
Sentfrmheaven
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:28:01.18
Tony Sisk
So, in this particular trip, I mean, I'm trying to think back.
00:28:01.53
Sentfrmheaven
It is particular, yeah.
00:28:05.53
Tony Sisk
Now, I love Black Flag, right?
00:28:08.07
Sentfrmheaven
Okay.
00:28:09.15
Tony Sisk
Assassin's Creed Black Flag.
00:28:10.20
Sentfrmheaven
Okay.
00:28:11.29
Tony Sisk
um And that is set in the Caribbean. So, I mean... I think a lot of it is set in like Cuba, Bahamas and stuff like that. And we were in it. We were in Nassau.
00:28:24.09
Tony Sisk
So I can't remember if that appears in the game or not, but a lot of the, you know beaches and stuff like that, the, the, ah the water and man, just the, the act of sailing of through, the you know, the Caribbean sea, even though you're on a big cruise ship, you know a lot of times you sit there and go, man,
00:28:46.46
Tony Sisk
Can you imagine there are people like sail across this, you know, not in a big ship, you know, like back in the day, their, their ships are tiny compared to a cruise ship.
00:28:52.06
Sentfrmheaven
Right.
00:28:56.90
Tony Sisk
And, um, and it's like, man, there's some gutsy people, explorers, you know the people that were the first ones ah across the Atlantic ocean and stuff.
00:28:57.24
Sentfrmheaven
Right.
00:29:08.18
Tony Sisk
Uh, those are some gutsy people. Um, but, uh,
00:29:11.10
Sentfrmheaven
Right. Absolutely.
00:29:13.72
Tony Sisk
Yeah, I mean, and it's funny to bring that up because I saw the when i I got home today, i was like, you know, just chilling and watching some YouTube videos and stuff.
00:29:24.10
Tony Sisk
And I saw that they had just come out with a, a like a teaser trailer for Black Flag Resync Assassin's Creed.
00:29:34.33
Sentfrmheaven
Okay.
00:29:35.41
Tony Sisk
It's basically a remaster. It's a remaster with a little bit of like modifications to some ah combat stuff and whatever, but it caught my attention because, like I said, i i that's probably my favorite Assassin's Creed game.
00:29:53.59
Tony Sisk
And not because of the Assassin's. Just think about it. You're a pirate who's an assassin. Makes no sense at all. Right? Yeah.
00:30:03.16
Sentfrmheaven
You assassin on the boat that you can't escape in the middle of those
00:30:05.30
Tony Sisk
Right. It makes no sense. The game makes no sense. But the immersiveness of it is one of the better ones, right? Because you just get into it, man. It's like, ah this is i'm gonna cap i have my own ship. I'm a my ship.
00:30:23.86
Tony Sisk
Right and the one of the favorite things I like doing in that game was going and looking for the sea shanties Right collectibles Right and then when you get collected the sea shanty your crew on the ship would sing that you could You could put it like it on a playlist, right?
00:30:33.23
Sentfrmheaven
Right.
00:30:41.67
Tony Sisk
And they would sing the c sea shanty as you sailed around the caribbean and you would see other ships and then you'd be like, oh attack it, you know, and then You would attack it with your cannons and then you would board it and you would have like ah the battle on the deck.
00:30:57.08
Tony Sisk
Absolutely fantastic. I mean, just and, you know, Ubisoft came out with that skull and bones standalone c game a couple of years ago that nobody played.
00:31:09.21
Sentfrmheaven
Yeah, yeah, nobody play. Yeah.
00:31:10.07
Tony Sisk
And it's free on PS Plus right now. And I still haven't downloaded it even though it's like that that game.
00:31:19.83
Tony Sisk
I think is shooting for like what you were getting in Assassin's Creed Black Flag, but it just, you know, they took away the Assassin's part, but I never bothered to to download it and play it because it's like I heard, you know, I try not to let outside influence like affect affect me.
00:31:28.33
Sentfrmheaven
Right.
00:31:37.41
Tony Sisk
But when there's so many gaming options, Right.
00:31:40.66
Sentfrmheaven
Right.
00:31:40.89
Tony Sisk
Constantly.
00:31:41.68
Sentfrmheaven
Right.
00:31:42.09
Tony Sisk
Like you just kind of like put things on a back burner and never get around to them. And that's in, and that's the case with this, you know, it's going bones. It's like, Oh, I just never got around to it.
00:31:51.72
Sentfrmheaven
Right.
00:31:53.15
Tony Sisk
um
00:31:54.20
Sentfrmheaven
Yeah.
00:31:55.00
Tony Sisk
But yeah, I love, ah I love that. So I love that. caribbean uh setting and being a pirate like you know our yeah like it's amazing that they really haven't really made a good quality pirate game so speaking of and i know this is a very heavy board game centric uh episode but
00:32:05.45
Sentfrmheaven
Right. Right. Right.
00:32:12.31
Sentfrmheaven
Right, right. Mm-hmm.
00:32:20.69
Tony Sisk
it's just kind of segwaying perfectly into something else, you know? ah But a couple of weeks ago, so I've got my life group that we meet on Sundays and every couple of weeks, the guys from it come to my house and we play board games.
00:32:38.26
Tony Sisk
And the last one we had, um Danny brought over a game called plunder, right? So it is a pirate game.
00:32:47.47
Sentfrmheaven
Okay.
00:32:50.78
Tony Sisk
And so there was three of us and you each get like a starting Island. So it's a big map you put out and it's, you know, it's an ocean and it's got a bunch of islands on it.
00:33:03.90
Tony Sisk
And then you get like a starting base and a starting ship. And then it's like first person to put for reference for people.
00:33:15.06
Tony Sisk
It's basically the pirate version of Catan. right so if you've played katan you know how you have to score 10 points to to be the winner it's the same concept so you take over an island you get a point you just see you defeat somebody's ship you get a point um
00:33:18.76
Sentfrmheaven
Okay.
00:33:35.13
Tony Sisk
So and then there's random cards you can get. i think there's gold coins. um So every five cards of gold coins, you get a victory point. And then there's like these random cards that you can get that are worth victory points. So the object is to get 10 points.
00:33:56.34
Tony Sisk
And.
00:33:56.36
Sentfrmheaven
Okay.
00:33:57.50
Tony Sisk
The game is very, like, it's simple, right? There's, like, you roll a couple of die. It's going to tell you how how far you can move your ship. ah Then you move your ship, and then you're if you roll a one or something on the die, there's a storm that moves around the, the, the ocean. And then, uh, you, you randomly place that somewhere on the board and, uh, makes movement difficult. If you get caught up in the storm and there's random events that happen, you know, throughout the game, whatever. So it's it's not a complex game at all, but it's funny because it was three of us. And like, uh, Danny was like, ah,
00:34:39.73
Tony Sisk
He's like, I won't attack you if you give me all your gold, you know. like, oh we're role-playing.
00:34:45.04
Sentfrmheaven
Right. Right. Right.
00:34:48.13
Tony Sisk
Okay, so there was some role-playing going on.
00:34:48.86
Sentfrmheaven
right
00:34:54.17
Tony Sisk
and then Danny and my other friend t j got into ah like a little mini battle, continuously going after each other.
00:35:06.14
Tony Sisk
which was a fatal mistake for them because they let me sit over here and just do my thing. And, you know, I, yeah, I get to build my settlements and buy more ships and upgrade my ships and never have to worry about anybody coming over and bothering me because they were, so they were busy, you know, killing each other.
00:35:27.74
Tony Sisk
And then when they finally like, Oh shoot, Tony's about to win too late.
00:35:33.69
Sentfrmheaven
Too late.
00:35:34.68
Tony Sisk
ah
00:35:35.37
Sentfrmheaven
Too late.
00:35:37.53
Tony Sisk
Right? So that was fun. I told him, I was like, it's a very simple game. Not a whole lot to it. But the immersiveness of like, okay, if we're going to do the role-playing, we got to go all in.
00:35:51.70
Tony Sisk
Like, pirate outfits next time. All right? We got to go full pirate costumes.
00:36:00.69
Sentfrmheaven
Absolutely. Absolutely.
00:36:01.82
Tony Sisk
Right? So, yeah, that's the... the the the the The corny aspect of of the hobby that that's kind of fun.
00:36:13.70
Tony Sisk
I'm like, we we never got around to talking about since the last up episode, but there was a big event in Nashville.
00:36:24.82
Tony Sisk
happens twice a year. It's actually in Franklin, and that is Tennessee Game Days.
00:36:28.15
Sentfrmheaven
Okay.
00:36:31.03
Tony Sisk
right? So Tennessee game days, you might've heard me talk about it in years past, but Tennessee game days is, um, basically, I hate to use the word convention because it's not really a convention, but it's an event, right?
00:36:49.94
Tony Sisk
You pay, do you buy tickets to go to this event? and it has like a thousand people they cap it at thousand people and it's at the marriott in franklin every year it's called tennessee game days happens in the spring and in the fall um so you can buy individual ticket or family ticket but you go and there's usually about a thousand people to show up and they set up the multiple like there's a bane ballroom
00:37:01.95
Sentfrmheaven
Okay.
00:37:18.90
Tony Sisk
at the hotel and then multiple uh adjacent rooms um that they have events going on and you just play board games and that's really it's not like a convention like a trade show like when we went to pax east right pax east you go it's a video game convention uh convention and you go and the developers have like
00:37:34.43
Sentfrmheaven
Right.
00:37:42.52
Tony Sisk
little mini demo booths set up and you get to try their games, new upcoming games and you and stuff like that. So you remember that, right? So that's how that's set up and you know you win laptop computers that you can't claim.
00:37:58.14
Tony Sisk
ah
00:38:01.70
Sentfrmheaven
Right.
00:38:02.55
Tony Sisk
so um but tennessee game days is mainly the the focus is just people getting together and playing right there's no that there's a couple of vendors there but it's not a vendor thing but um man it it was a good it was really good weekend this time around too because i played friday saturday i usually do two days um and I think you can do Friday, Saturday, Sunday, you can Thursday if you are like a volunteer or like that. So it can like, you could be a four day event for you.
00:38:40.01
Tony Sisk
Uh, but, uh, I used to do Friday and Saturday, but man, there was a, there was some, really great games we played and there was one game that we played and I don't know if um I've talked about this game in the past maybe with you guys before but the group that I was there I played with on Friday nights have these guys have been playing together for you know since high school and they're my age right so it's like they've been together for like 30 years they've been playing together and they play this game Battlestar Galactica
00:38:55.41
Sentfrmheaven
Okay.
00:39:16.28
Tony Sisk
right So it's based on the early 2000s TV show, Battlestar Galactica. Excellent, excellent sci-fi
00:39:24.41
Sentfrmheaven
Yeah, I'm about to say sauna for me Okay.
00:39:25.11
Tony Sisk
ah yep show based off the nineteen seventy late Galactica, which is way more campy.
00:39:35.51
Tony Sisk
The 2000s version is way more serious. Serious sci-fi. But in that
00:39:44.99
Tony Sisk
edition of it the salons who are like the enemy that has basically wiped out humanity they look like humans like they can look like humans so this game is based on that aspect of it right so you have the battle star galactica which is like the last military ship left to the humans as they are trying to avoid extinction and
00:40:10.36
Sentfrmheaven
Right.
00:40:13.79
Tony Sisk
you're navigating like a distance that you have to go you have to go like eight distance typically in a base game you have to go eight distance um and then one final jump
00:40:28.48
Tony Sisk
with the yeah what do you call it they're faster than light engines whatever but you You have to do this while you're being swarmed by enemy ships.
00:40:39.73
Tony Sisk
And ah if you have like a... I think you can play up to five players in the base game. But one of the players, one or two of the players are...
00:40:49.46
Sentfrmheaven
Right.
00:40:52.03
Tony Sisk
so There's a chance that one or two of them can be Cylons. Bad Cylons, right? because The TV show, there were Cylons that actually but tried to help the humans.
00:41:05.30
Tony Sisk
But more often than not, they were bad. But one or two of the players could be a bad salon, right? And obviously, their objective is to tank the game and make it where the salons win.
00:41:19.03
Tony Sisk
So in this particular Friday of this past Tennessee game days, they these this group of guys I was telling you about, they were playing their 350th game of Battlestar Galactica.
00:41:37.01
Sentfrmheaven
Oh wow.
00:41:37.24
Tony Sisk
Now, that's 350th game that they have tracked, like on a spreadsheet, like on a computer. Like, they take it serious.
00:41:46.51
Sentfrmheaven
Oh wow.
00:41:48.81
Tony Sisk
It's a serious game for them.
00:41:49.07
Sentfrmheaven
Yeah, yeah. Serious game, absolutely.
00:41:51.22
Tony Sisk
Super serious. right So, we're playing And um it gets to the point in the game, like it didn't look that great for the humans.
00:42:06.30
Tony Sisk
And I was a human. it Didn't look that great for the humans fairly early on. Right. So it's like there's different resources that you have for the humans to try to maintain. That's fuel, population, food and morale right and so it's like 12 to 14 of each of these resources and as the game progresses you lose some of this if it ever gets to zero in any of them you lose the game immediately so we were down to like two food
00:42:29.80
Sentfrmheaven
Right.
00:42:46.55
Tony Sisk
four morale
00:42:50.18
Tony Sisk
like two fuel like and we still have like you know one more this is at at the very like at the end of the game one player had already revealed himself as being a silent and usually like you have two options of a silent player you can you can keep it a secret and act like you're a human and you can secretly try to tank skill checks right ah you know where you try to pass events by adding cards that have numerical values to them and you can secretly try to tank those right but they're cut the cards that you play are color coded and they're specific and each character has
00:43:23.54
Sentfrmheaven
Right.
00:43:40.73
Tony Sisk
color codes that ah they more often that they would get more likely to get right. So you could kind of maybe figure out who the person is who's throwing in all the blues or who's throwing in the yellows or whatever.
00:43:54.90
Tony Sisk
But so you have an opt as a salon. You can either reveal or not reveal. So if you don't reveal, you're secretly trying to tank the game. If you reveal, you're actively attacking, right?
00:44:10.94
Sentfrmheaven
Right. Right. Right.
00:44:11.32
Tony Sisk
And you do that by having like some actions that are now available to you because now you're revealed salon. So, and you can't be killed, right? Because you're a salon. You can just be reborn.
00:44:25.18
Tony Sisk
um So, and if there's multiple salons, what you, you can do this however way you want. But typically it it seems to work best when and one player person reveals and one player does not reveal.
00:44:39.19
Tony Sisk
That way they can work together. right so it it it was like down at the end of the game and i'm just going to shorten this up it's like i um i asked the guy across from me and this is an older gentleman um i asked was like i need to see your your loyalty card i don't i can't remember what ability i had allowed me to see his loyalty card so is your loyalty card is the card that tells you
00:45:03.53
Sentfrmheaven
Okay. Right.
00:45:06.39
Tony Sisk
whether or not you're a Cylon or not, right? it It's either going to say you're not a Cylon or it's going to say you're a Cylon. And some of them have like little added things at the bottom that you have to do or you lose like a resource or something, which I, my personal loyalty card was um send the Admiral to the Brig.
00:45:31.06
Tony Sisk
Was it the Admiral? No, send the President to the Brig. And if you do that, reveal this card to say it to prevent loss of one food.
00:45:42.78
Tony Sisk
Remember, I said we only had two food. All right.
00:45:45.05
Sentfrmheaven
Right. Right.
00:45:46.68
Tony Sisk
So I had that. And he knew i had it because his character's ability allowed him to look at my loyalty card. And he asked to look at my loyalty card. So I showed him. and He saw that I had that, that I needed to complete that.
00:45:59.22
Tony Sisk
Right. Then. it came up where I could look at his. So I'm like, you know, you looked at mine, I'm look at yours, right? So I looked at his and his, he had three, you have multiple loyalty cards.
00:46:13.59
Tony Sisk
So he had three the time and the middle one said, you are a Cylon. So if a card says you are a salon that takes precedent on everything else.
00:46:23.96
Tony Sisk
So he's a salon.
00:46:24.41
Sentfrmheaven
Right.
00:46:25.23
Tony Sisk
I'm like, he's a salon, but you can't just go, he's a salon, right?
00:46:25.75
Sentfrmheaven
Right. Yeah.
00:46:29.37
Tony Sisk
It's like, um, so it got to the point at the end the game, uh, It was like one, like the guy who had already revealed as a silent, his name's Phil. He's like, he had a big smile on his face because he knew he had his dead the rights.
00:46:50.24
Tony Sisk
He's like, I got you guys. I got you. Right? And it was a skill check that was up. And I told everybody in the skill check, I mean, everybody at the table. Now, at this point, that guy got up to go to the bathroom.
00:47:08.56
Sentfrmheaven
Yeah.
00:47:08.70
Tony Sisk
right So he went to the bathroom um The Admiral player was like What are we going to do? we' gonna passut Because the skill check that was up was Admiral's choice Was ah Just to fail the fail it on purpose And lose one food Or Try to pass it and if you failed it You lose two Right Alright And I got two
00:47:22.07
Sentfrmheaven
Right.
00:47:35.31
Sentfrmheaven
You only get to. Great.
00:47:38.62
Tony Sisk
But if he took the just accept the loss, we'll be down to one food. And remember, I had a card that says lose one food if if the president hasn't gone to the brig.
00:47:46.21
Sentfrmheaven
Right.
00:47:49.43
Sentfrmheaven
Right.
00:47:53.11
Tony Sisk
Well.
00:47:53.85
Sentfrmheaven
Right.
00:47:54.87
Tony Sisk
After that guy looked at my card, he was the president.
00:47:58.69
Sentfrmheaven
Mm.
00:47:59.13
Tony Sisk
Right.
00:47:59.13
Sentfrmheaven
Mm.
00:47:59.59
Tony Sisk
He gave his presidency to the admiral after he looked at my card. So I was like. OK. i'm trying I'm trying to figure out why he did that, but i was like I couldn't figure out why he did that, other than he wanted me to make the action to send that guy to the brig, which made sense because the guy who was playing Admiral was probably one of the better players at this game, right?
00:48:16.77
Sentfrmheaven
Right. Right. Right.
00:48:22.66
Tony Sisk
So, like, okay, he wants me me to send him to the brig, or he wants somebody to send him to the brig, because that would make him where it's near impossible for him to actually actively help the game as effectively, right?
00:48:35.47
Tony Sisk
so So but the Admiral was like, oh, you know, I'm just gonna take the loss. I'm like, you can't do that He's like I can't do that. He's like, yeah, can't So because I can't tell him what's on my loyalty card, right?
00:48:52.18
Sentfrmheaven
Okay, I got you.
00:48:52.48
Tony Sisk
So I'm like, ah okay, you can't do that So you can't pass. mean, you cannot lose that food. I'm telling you you cannot lose it and he's like, okay and then I said, well, he said, okay, you're saying that we need to pass skill check. I'm like, yes, we got pass the skill check.
00:49:10.74
Tony Sisk
Right. And so he's like, okay, will pass the skill check.
00:49:12.24
Sentfrmheaven
Right.
00:49:19.16
Tony Sisk
And, and I said, I said, but I'll just say, you got to go all in. He's like, you gotta go all in, huh? I'm like, yeah, you gotta go all in.
00:49:32.37
Tony Sisk
He's like, so you're saying that somebody is a salon. I'm like, I don't know. That's basically what I'm saying.
00:49:41.84
Sentfrmheaven
Yeah.
00:49:41.94
Tony Sisk
So the guy comes back to the table.
00:49:41.94
Sentfrmheaven
Yeah. yeah
00:49:43.54
Tony Sisk
Well, Phil, who is the salon, the revealed salon goes, so and Melvin comes back and says, so what happened? what what What's happened since I've been gone to the bathroom?
00:49:54.84
Tony Sisk
And Phil's like, Oh, Tony outed you as a Cylon. He basically said, you're a Cylon. And Melvin's like, ain't no Cylon.
00:50:08.01
Tony Sisk
What? ain't no Cylon. So, and his son is sitting right to my left. And he's like, what? That's something. mean We'll see, I guess, because we're about do school check.
00:50:22.33
Tony Sisk
Well, it was, this game is complex. So Gene, who's his son, it was actually his turn, right?
00:50:30.51
Sentfrmheaven
Okay.
00:50:30.55
Tony Sisk
So the skill check starts to the player to the left of the player whose turn is. So that meant Melvin was the first player to put in for the skill check. So he would add cards. I'm thinking that he's going to throw down um his whole hand of colored cards that would make the numbers negative in the skill check, right?
00:50:51.39
Tony Sisk
Because had a huge hand of cards. Like he had like the maximum of cards you could have. right
00:50:57.96
Sentfrmheaven
Okay.
00:50:59.77
Tony Sisk
um And when you add to the skill check, you put the cards in face down so nobody can see what you placed. And then two additional cards are added randomly from another deck called the Destiny deck.
00:51:07.81
Sentfrmheaven
Right. Right.
00:51:13.24
Tony Sisk
So um that's why I'm saying oh we have to go all in. Well, this turkey goes... Alright, I'm playing... oh ah can't remember the name of the card.
00:51:25.88
Tony Sisk
He plays a card that says all cards have to be played face-up. Well, this just blows everybody's mind at the table, right? Because the Admiral goes, what?
00:51:41.05
Sentfrmheaven
Right.
00:51:42.32
Tony Sisk
He's like, why would Asylon play that card, right? why Because Asylon would never want to have everybody's cards revealed. right Because you're trying to keep it secret what you're playing.
00:51:49.75
Sentfrmheaven
Right.
00:51:52.73
Tony Sisk
right But he's saying that he wants everybody to show what they got.
00:51:52.89
Sentfrmheaven
Right.
00:51:56.36
Tony Sisk
So he's like, I'm not a salon, so that's why I'm playing that card. And Adam was like, man, this is a mine thing going on here because Tony says you're a salon.
00:52:10.19
Tony Sisk
Unless you're not really a salon. Maybe Tony wants us to believe you're a salon. Maybe he's trying to mess with us. I'm like... I mean, that would make a pretty good you know case, I guess.
00:52:26.63
Tony Sisk
I'm like, so this kind of throws everybody off. And Phil was like, what? he Because Phil could not, like Phil as a Salon, he now has to play his card face up.
00:52:40.18
Sentfrmheaven
Right.
00:52:40.22
Tony Sisk
Right? So he can play one card. And he's like, I can only play one. Why would you do that? If you're a Salon, he's like, you better not be a Salon. you Right?
00:52:49.72
Sentfrmheaven
Right.
00:52:49.87
Tony Sisk
And remember, he is a Cylon.
00:52:53.24
Sentfrmheaven
He is a sideline, right.
00:52:54.39
Tony Sisk
He is a Cylon.
00:52:56.25
Sentfrmheaven
Right.
00:52:56.50
Tony Sisk
And um so
00:53:02.17
Tony Sisk
so ah then not only does he play the card that says our cards must be played face up, he then puts in a whole stack of cards that actually passes the skill check.
00:53:18.37
Sentfrmheaven
Right. Right. Right.
00:53:19.46
Tony Sisk
I just want you to think about this advance. The game is decided right here at this moment. This is the deciding skill check.
00:53:32.22
Tony Sisk
Like the game, Phil wins as a salon or the salons win at this point or the humans lose at this point. This is it. This is like the you know the buzzer. right We're at the buzzer.
00:53:46.74
Tony Sisk
And he plays... all paint All cards must be played face up. And I'm going to i'm gonna put down cards that actually pass the skill check. Well, at that point, everybody's like, what?
00:53:57.74
Sentfrmheaven
Right. Right. Yeah.
00:54:01.91
Tony Sisk
So Phil plays his card down to to knock the number down. And I'm like, well, this is the side I'm throwing my cards in to pass it, right?
00:54:13.82
Tony Sisk
And then, so we go. We do the skill check. and Phil is steaming. I mean, you could see the steam coming out of his ears over there because we passed the skill check.
00:54:30.33
Tony Sisk
It was at right at the last moment for the Galactica to make the final jump, right?
00:54:37.41
Sentfrmheaven
Right.
00:54:39.38
Tony Sisk
And we make the jump. We win the game. So we win the game. Humans win.
00:54:44.98
Sentfrmheaven
a yeah
00:54:45.37
Tony Sisk
We pull it out at the end, right?
00:54:46.14
Sentfrmheaven
he was win
00:54:48.02
Tony Sisk
So that now is the time where you reveal everybody's loyalty because there's a chance that you could have minuses, right? Well, we know Phil's a ah salon because he doesn't he doesn't have an effect on everyone.
00:55:03.54
Tony Sisk
So the admiral reveals no losses. I reveal we take one food loss, right? Because had no way of getting him to the brink.
00:55:12.86
Sentfrmheaven
Right. Right.
00:55:17.08
Tony Sisk
So that takes us down to one food, right? And that was it. That was it. The next two players, you know including Melvin and Gene, were like, yeah. um Gene's like, flips and he's like, oh, I'm a human.
00:55:33.18
Tony Sisk
So Admiral's a human. I'm a human. Gene's a human. And everybody everybody's like, make sure Melvin goes last, right?
00:55:45.78
Tony Sisk
At that point, Melvin looks at his cards and he's like, oh.
00:55:55.86
Tony Sisk
He puts them out. He says, I'm a Cylon.
00:56:02.55
Sentfrmheaven
I know Phil had to be extra hot. Extra hot.
00:56:06.10
Tony Sisk
Okay, just imagine this.
00:56:06.30
Sentfrmheaven
o
00:56:08.90
Tony Sisk
There's a thousand people in this ballroom. We're playing in the dead center of the ballroom, right? This place is pretty noisy already, right?
00:56:18.03
Sentfrmheaven
Right. Right. Yeah. Yeah.
00:56:22.95
Tony Sisk
Melvin flips over that card that says that he's a salon. Phil yells at him. Chris, who's the Admiral, falls out of his chair. Gene jumps up. I'm like, um I fall out my chair, dying, rolling, laughing.
00:56:41.50
Tony Sisk
and we made We just made this huge commotion right in the middle of the ballroom. and Because he never... The only thing we can figure out was he had three cards in his hand, three loyalty cards.
00:56:56.35
Tony Sisk
You know how sometimes you when you're you have cards your hand, you'll kind of shuffle them back and forth in your hands?
00:57:02.40
Sentfrmheaven
Right. Right.
00:57:05.37
Tony Sisk
The only thing we can figure out is like, he Every time he he did that hand shuffle with his hands, and he would look down. He would always see the the card that said, you're not a salon.
00:57:19.06
Tony Sisk
And he would just accidentally shuffle past the card that said, you are a salon.
00:57:23.77
Sentfrmheaven
I was, yeah.
00:57:27.38
Sentfrmheaven
That's funny.
00:57:28.60
Tony Sisk
ah
00:57:29.38
Sentfrmheaven
That's funny. ah bet you I bet you Phil talked about that for a week straight.
00:57:34.12
Tony Sisk
Oh, remember, this is...
00:57:34.68
Sentfrmheaven
Probably with home talking about it, at work talking about it.
00:57:35.05
Tony Sisk
a Oh, man. He was so burnt up. He was so burnt about it the whole weekend. But, I mean.
00:57:45.74
Sentfrmheaven
You've been playing this for 349 times and this is what you do? Yeah.
00:57:51.00
Tony Sisk
ha Right? Yeah.
00:57:56.76
Sentfrmheaven
yeah
00:57:57.18
Tony Sisk
So.
00:57:57.37
Sentfrmheaven
yeah Yeah, that's when you... remember my first time playing Galactic. You know, like, Ricky, what's sake?
00:58:06.62
Tony Sisk
Right.
00:58:08.21
Sentfrmheaven
Oh, man.
00:58:08.94
Tony Sisk
Yeah.
00:58:09.14
Sentfrmheaven
That's crazy, man. I feel bad for Melvin, man.
00:58:12.70
Tony Sisk
Yeah. I mean, to be fair, he had some other stuff going on too. So, I mean, he he was, I think he was a little distracted.
00:58:16.09
Sentfrmheaven
Yeah, yeah.
00:58:19.18
Tony Sisk
stuff
00:58:19.67
Sentfrmheaven
Yeah, had to be right.
00:58:21.43
Tony Sisk
yeah. But it meant we made a heck of a racket in the middle of that ballroom. That was the funniest thing about it. mean, it was just like, it's just one those rare moments where it's like an unbelievable thing.
00:58:35.29
Tony Sisk
You know, how could this possibly happen?
00:58:36.70
Sentfrmheaven
Right. Right. Right. I'm like, I'm all for game reactions. Like, this is a golf, okay? You know, we're not golf clapping, okay? do like Like, you know, especially a moment like that, you're like, man, like, had us dead to right.
00:58:51.28
Sentfrmheaven
You know, like, had the hand in the cookie jar and we got out.
00:58:55.38
Tony Sisk
Right? Had him. You had him. Right?
00:59:01.46
Sentfrmheaven
And what they said, fishing hook, line, and sinker. Adam.
00:59:05.21
Tony Sisk
Right. And, and dude, it was so, what was crazy was like, I knew that he had a car that said that you're a Cylon. I knew everybody, nobody else knew.
00:59:16.26
Sentfrmheaven
Man.
00:59:17.91
Tony Sisk
i knew.
00:59:18.23
Sentfrmheaven
Yeah. Right.
00:59:19.58
Tony Sisk
And it started messing with my mind. Like he was like the, what he was doing, it was messing with me because I was like, am I going crazy?
00:59:30.42
Tony Sisk
Did I not read that right? I'm thinking the whole time over there that like, I had like, what have i What did I not see? Right?
00:59:39.13
Sentfrmheaven
Right.
00:59:39.83
Tony Sisk
like Because this guy is so convinced that he's not a salon.
00:59:39.86
Sentfrmheaven
Right.
00:59:43.19
Sentfrmheaven
right
00:59:43.94
Tony Sisk
I'm like, man, he gives this guy an Oscar because he is giving an Oscar-worthy ah performance over here. I'm not a salon.
00:59:57.69
Sentfrmheaven
Right, yeah.
00:59:57.98
Tony Sisk
Ha, ha, ha, ha.
00:59:58.25
Sentfrmheaven
yeah I ain't no Cylon, yeah.
00:59:58.86
Tony Sisk
Ha, ha, ha.
01:00:01.18
Sentfrmheaven
That's funny.
01:00:02.94
Tony Sisk
Anyway, so what else? um I mean, that's been my last few weeks. ah You went to, didn't you go see a movie here recently?
01:00:07.99
Sentfrmheaven
Yeah. I want to go see MJ. I want to go see MJ. yeah the Well, Mike. Michael. Michael, the new Michael movie.
01:00:15.82
Tony Sisk
The Michael Jackson movie?
01:00:16.90
Sentfrmheaven
Yep, yep, yep.
01:00:17.46
Tony Sisk
How was that?
01:00:19.00
Sentfrmheaven
That was good. I saw it twice. I saw it on Thursday, and then we saw it on Friday as well. And it it was definitely better the second time because ah I watched it the first time, but then I went and I watched some reviews and stuff like that, you know, just kind of see what other people, you know, was kind of saying about it. And there were things like, you know, didn't know, you know, like, especially the time period and stuff because, um...
01:00:40.18
Sentfrmheaven
Like, the movie goes from its childhood to 1988. eighty eight So, yeah. So, it it it stops there. So, you know, I was born in 86. So, it's like that was, you know. So, I definitely, ah you know, with the new information I received, I rewatched. And I was like, man, that's pretty good movie. Pretty good movie.
01:01:00.82
Sentfrmheaven
And it's crazy because of Rotten Tomatoes, like, you know, it had like a 27%. think last time I looked, it was up to 40%. But, excuse but
01:01:08.70
Tony Sisk
Is that on the critics or critics or the audience?
01:01:09.78
Sentfrmheaven
who
01:01:12.76
Sentfrmheaven
That was the critics. Now, the audience, it hit 95, and it's the highest biopic. It beat out Elvis. Elvis was 94. So right now, it's sitting at a 95. And critic score is going up. I think yeah i think last time looked, it was a 40.
01:01:28.95
Sentfrmheaven
So, but.
01:01:29.69
Tony Sisk
Okay, so what you're saying is that Michael is actually entertaining for the for the average moviegoer. Because the critics can get their criticism, their, their like image of like art, whatever can kind
01:01:36.87
Sentfrmheaven
Yes.
01:01:46.17
Sentfrmheaven
Right, right. There was some some people talking about it at work, and you know people, you know like if you an avid Michael Jackson fan, ah you're going to love this movie. like I've seen different clips of theaters, like everybody singing and dancing, you know and you know they're having a great time.
01:02:03.96
Sentfrmheaven
Now, one thing you have to keep in the forefront of your mind is his nephew isn't him because his real life nephew is playing him, but it's like, he's not Michael Jackson. So you can't expect him to move like, like, and be Mike.
01:02:16.02
Sentfrmheaven
He's just, you know?
01:02:16.04
Tony Sisk
Right. right
01:02:18.04
Sentfrmheaven
So, yeah. So, but, but I mean, like he does, he does a good job. Uh, He actually does a great job. um Jafar Jackson is named. Now, the guy that plays Joseph, um I don't know his name, but I've seen him in some stuff, but he but he plays Joseph really good.
01:02:36.38
Sentfrmheaven
like I mean, I definitely see some awards coming out, not be yeah but yeah, definitely check it out. you know It's a pretty good movie. Yep, yep, yep, yep, yep.
01:02:46.22
Tony Sisk
Cool. Cool. Yeah, I mean, i've I've been missing the movie theater. You know, been gone for a couple weeks, so it's like, oh, man, I want to go see a movie.
01:02:54.34
Sentfrmheaven
Right.
01:02:56.25
Tony Sisk
Maybe I'll go.
01:02:56.25
Sentfrmheaven
Right.
01:02:56.97
Tony Sisk
i mean, I'm going to go tomorrow.
01:02:57.00
Sentfrmheaven
Right.
01:02:58.09
Tony Sisk
I think I'm going to go tomorrow.
01:03:00.12
Sentfrmheaven
Yeah.
01:03:00.52
Tony Sisk
I'm off tomorrow, so I might go see Tim.
01:03:02.56
Sentfrmheaven
Okay.
01:03:05.72
Tony Sisk
Might not go see Michael, but I'll watch something tomorrow.
01:03:07.90
Sentfrmheaven
Yeah. Yeah.
01:03:10.14
Tony Sisk
Cool.
01:03:10.55
Sentfrmheaven
Yep.
01:03:12.25
Tony Sisk
Awesome.
01:03:12.54
Sentfrmheaven
Oh yeah.
01:03:12.61
Tony Sisk
What? That's all I got.
01:03:15.29
Sentfrmheaven
Hey, hey, hey, that's pretty good. That's pretty good though. So, um, So, yeah, so if you all are going on the cruise a hey, make sure pack board games.
01:03:27.19
Tony Sisk
Yes.
01:03:28.14
Sentfrmheaven
Hey, stick Uno in your pocket, small enough to fit, you know?
01:03:30.10
Tony Sisk
I highly... Oh, don't. Uno. That's such a... I mean, it can get brutal.
01:03:35.52
Sentfrmheaven
Yeah. Yeah, absolutely.
01:03:38.17
Tony Sisk
Right.
01:03:38.22
Sentfrmheaven
Absolutely. Absolutely.
01:03:39.10
Tony Sisk
Yeah. And it's like one of those games you never know when it's going to end.
01:03:43.41
Sentfrmheaven
Right. Right.
01:03:44.55
Tony Sisk
It can just keep going.
01:03:44.76
Sentfrmheaven
